Texas Rangers To Add Jordan Lyles<\/a><\/h1>\n

Major League sources are reporting the Texas Rangers<\/a> have signed right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles<\/strong><\/a> to a two-year contract worth 16 million dollars overall. The signing is pending a physical by Lyles.<\/p>\n

New Ranger In Town<\/h2>\n

Jordan Lyles is a 29-year-old veteran pitcher with nine years under his belt. His career record is 43-60 with a 5.11 ERA and a WHIP of 1.436. Lyles spent three and a half seasons as a member of the Colorado Rockies<\/a>. Those years have contributed to his bloated career ERA.<\/p>\n

Lyles came up from the minors as a starting pitcher. After three seasons he became a reliever with the Rockies and now is back as a full time starting pitcher. In the first half of the season, he was a member of the floundering Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>. Lyles went 5-7 with a 5.36 ERA. After getting traded to the Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> Lyles had a 7-1 record with a 2.45 ERA. Lyles had a WHIP of 1.108 and pitched 58 innings across 11 starts.<\/p>\n

The 11 starts as a Brewer clearly is the best stretch of his career. Lyles now has parlayed that into a new contract with the Rangers as they move into their new stadium.<\/p>\n

Rangers Outlook<\/h2>\n

The Texas Rangers are continuing their aggressive approach to this offseason. Right-handed starting pitcher Kyle Gibson<\/strong><\/a> has already signed a three-year contract as the Rangers are building a starting rotation.<\/p>\n

Lyles joins a suddenly solid rotation with the returning Mike Minor<\/strong><\/a> as the ace and other returning pitchers Lance Lynn<\/strong><\/a> and Kolby Allard<\/strong><\/a> and the newly signed Gibson. The Rangers are now in search of a much bigger fish.<\/p>\n

Free-agent star third baseman Anthony Rendon<\/strong><\/a> remains on their radar. Rendon who is from Houston, Texas is 29 years old and will command a 30 million a year plus contract. He is the perfect player to put in the middle of the solid lineup the Rangers already have in place.<\/p>\n

The Rangers finished the 2019 season 29 games behind the first-place Houston Astros<\/a>. The Rangers are determined to give their fans a contending team along with their new ballpark.
