Texas Rangers Sign Kyle Gibson<\/a><\/h1>\n

The Texas Rangers<\/a> have signed right-handed pitcher Kyle Gibson<\/strong> to a three-year contract worth 30 million dollars. Gibson will need to pass a physical and the Rangers may need to open up a spot on the 40 man roster before this signing becomes official.<\/p>\n

Kyle Gibson’s Career<\/h2>\n

Kyle Gibson has spent his entire seven-year career with the Minnesota Twins<\/a>. After a good 2018 season where Gibson went 10-13 but had a 3.62 ERA, he took a step back in 2019. Gibson went 13-7 but his ERA swelled to 4.84. His 13 wins were more due to the Twins record-breaking offensive season than Gibson’s work on the hill.<\/p>\n

For his career Gibson, 31 has a record of 67-68 with an ERA of 4.52. His WHIP is 1.411 and he has struck out 845 batters in 1087 innings. Gibson has made 90 starts combined in the last three seasons. Gibson made 8.1125 million dollars last season so this contract is a raise.<\/p>\n

The Twins who did not extend a qualifying offer to Gibson now have a hole in their rotation. Gibson is not great but he is a very serviceable starting pitcher who has been durable over his first seven seasons. He is averaging 194 innings pitched per season for his career.<\/p>\n

Rangers Outlook<\/h2>\n

Gibson joins a Rangers rotation that includes Mike Minor<\/a><\/strong> and Lance Lynn<\/a><\/strong>. Currently Gibson slots in as the third starter in the rotation. Kolby Allard<\/a><\/strong>, Brock Burke<\/a><\/strong>, and Joe<\/strong> Palumbo<\/strong><\/a> will battle it out for the last two spots in the rotation. However, the Rangers are not done shopping.<\/p>\n

The Rangers are looking to add more offense to go along with Joey Gallo<\/a><\/strong>, Willie Calhoun<\/a><\/strong>, Danny Santana<\/a><\/strong>, Rougned Odor<\/a><\/strong>, and Nomar Mazara<\/a><\/strong>. In addition, they are rumored to be in on free-agent pitcher Zach Wheeler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
