The first domino to fall was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/maddojo99.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Maddon<\/a><\/strong> who has signed on to manage the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/los-angeles-angels\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Angels<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/10\/16\/los-angeles-angels-hire-joe-maddon\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maddon to the Angels<\/a> was expected once he was let go by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/chicago-cubs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Cubs<\/a> and the Angels fired <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/a\/ausmubr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Ausmus<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are seven major league manager openings and the list of candidates has grown every day. Let&#8217;s look at the latest MLB manager rumors.<\/p>\n<h2>Big Apple Boss<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/new-york-mets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Mets<\/a> have increased their list of managerial candidates. You can add former players <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/schumsk01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Skip Schumaker<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bogarti01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tim Bogar<\/a><\/strong> to the list. Bogar played four seasons with the Mets. The Mets have now officially interviewed eight candidates. Only <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/girarjo01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Girardi<\/a><\/strong> has had prior major league managerial experience. Although Bogar was an interim manager with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/texas-rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas Rangers<\/a> and also was a manager in the minor leagues.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2019\/10\/17\/the-only-reason-mets-needed-to-interview-joe-girardi\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Post<\/a> Girardi does check a lot of the boxes Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen is looking for. Van Wagenen may have reservations about Girardi connecting with the players.\u00a0The speculation around the Mets is that Van Wagenen wants a first-time manager. Girardi, Bell, Shelton are candidates elsewhere, Perez, Beltran only interested in NY<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JonHeyman\/status\/1185253655492071424?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October 18, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>Padres New Friar<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/san-diego-padres\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Diego Padres<\/a> are reportedly down to two candidates; Jayce Tingler and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=washiro01,washin002ron&amp;search=Ron+Washington&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ron Washington<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> Tingler who is very close to Padres general manager AJ Preller is a player development executive with the Rangers.\u00a0 Washington managed the Rangers to consecutive World Series appearances. Preller does have a relationship with Washington as well. Tingler is seen as the favorite.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Many folks around baseball believe AJ Preller will pick Jayce Tingler, Rangers player development exec, to be the Padres next manager. Doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s a done deal, and Ron Washington, who Preller also knows from Texas, is also in the running. All three men have accomplished careers as managers. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/showabu99.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buck Showalter<\/a><\/strong> appears to be the favorite of the Phillies owner John Middleton. Showalter has connections to the Phillies brass from his time as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/baltimore-orioles\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baltimore Orioles<\/a> manager. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=bakerdu01,baker-000dus&amp;search=Dusty+Baker&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dusty Baker<\/a><\/strong> and Girardi are the other candidates.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Philly people seem happy with all 3 candidates. There is perception possibly due to past link w\/Orioles the front office may favor Showalter. Former Phillies manager <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kaplega01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gabe Kapler<\/a><\/strong> also has spoken to the Cubs. Former Cubs player <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rossda01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>David Ross<\/strong><\/a> is still considered the favorite. The four previous candidates the Pirates were interested in are <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/f\/fuldsa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sam Fuld<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/banisje01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeff Banister<\/a><\/strong>, Blake Shelton, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=bellmi02,bellmi01&amp;search=Mike+Bell&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Bell<\/a><\/strong>. You can now add Joe Espada, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/clappst01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stubby Clapp<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kotsama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Kotsay<\/a>, <\/strong>and Ryan Christensen. Matt Quatraro is now on the radar for the Giants. Quatraro is the bench coach with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/tampa-bay-rays\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> and Giants president Farhan Zaidi is reportedly a fan of how the Rays run their team.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mathemi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Matheny<\/a><\/strong> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/kansas-city-royals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kansas City Royals<\/a> is also a person of interest by the Giants.
