Just minutes after a disappointing 13-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> in Game Five of the NLDS, Atlanta Braves<\/a> catcher Brian McCann<\/strong><\/a> announced his retirement from baseball. Kelsey Wingert<\/a> of Fox Sports South was the first to report the news.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is everything that I wanted to do,\u201d McCann said<\/a>. \u201cI wanted to come back and get a chance at the postseason and this is it for me. I\u2019m going to go home and be a dad and play with those kids.”<\/p>\n \u201cI went out the way I wanted to and I\u2019m happy about that,” he added. “I\u2019ll always be a part of this organization. I\u2019ll be around. I’ll be watching those guys do their thing. I’ll be coming back a lot. I have a seven and six-year-old who love baseball. So I\u2019ll be at the yard. It\u2019s time to go. Fifteen years of catching, it\u2019s sad, but it\u2019s time,\u201d<\/p>\n “I had a long career. Fifteen years is a long time catching every day.
