2019 Earl Weaver Awards<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Welcome to the final regular season edition of Ejection Inspection! The premise and ground rules are detailed here<\/a>. The condensed version: each ejection from the previous week (Thursday through Wednesday) is listed in a table. The author \u2013 a former player\/coach\/umpire \u2013 analyzes each ejection and assigns it an entertainment rating of one to five Weavers in honor of late Baltimore Orioles<\/a> manager Earl Weaver<\/a><\/strong>. This edition will hand out the 2019 Earl Weaver Awards.<\/p>\n

Earl Weaver Awards<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Most Common Reason<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Of the 217 ejections, 121 were for arguing balls and strikes. This should not be a surprise to anyone. As far as other reasons go, 15 ejections came from arguing a checked swing. Nine were for some sort of fighting, and five were for arguing a replay decision.<\/p>\n

Most Ejections, Player<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Detroit Tigers<\/a> designated hitter Miguel Cabrera<\/a><\/strong> led all players with three ejections (Week Seven<\/a>, Week 15<\/a>, Week 21<\/a>). Cincinnati Reds<\/a> and Cleveland Indians<\/a> outfielder Yasiel Puig<\/a><\/strong> also had three during his tenure with the Reds, but two came during a fight, giving the award to Cabrera.<\/p>\n

Most Ejections, Manager<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Three managers finished the season with eight. They were Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell<\/a><\/strong>, Chicago White Sox<\/a> manager Rick Renteria<\/a><\/strong>, and Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Most Ejections, Umpire<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Mike Estabrook had 13 ejections this season \u2013 by far the most.<\/p>\n

Weirdest Ejection<\/strong><\/h4>\n
