This should not be a surprise to anyone. As far as other reasons go, 15 ejections came from arguing a checked swing. Nine were for some sort of fighting, and five were for arguing a replay decision.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Most Ejections, Player<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/detroit-tigers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Tigers<\/a> designated hitter <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cabremi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Miguel Cabrera<\/a><\/strong> led all players with three ejections (<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/05\/16\/ejection-inspection-week-seven\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Week Seven<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/07\/13\/ejection-inspection-15-joe-maddon\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Week 15<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/08\/23\/ejection-inspection-201921-brett-gardner\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Week 21<\/a>). <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/cincinnati-reds\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cincinnati Reds<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/cleveland-indians\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cleveland Indians<\/a> outfielder <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/puigya01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yasiel Puig<\/a><\/strong> also had three during his tenure with the Reds, but two came during a fight, giving the award to Cabrera.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Most Ejections, Manager<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Three managers finished the season with eight. Strahm yelled \u201cCome on, Phil!\u201d for teammate <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/matonph01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Phil Maton<\/a><\/strong>, who was pitching. Third base umpire Mike Everitt thought he was yelling \u201cCome on, Bill!\u201d to argue with plate umpire Bill Welke and ultimately ran Strahm. Green came out of the dugout to explain the situation, and Welke poured gasoline on the fire, all but calling Green a liar. A long scene ensued, culminating in Green\u2019s second ejection of the year \u2013 both by Welke.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Most Ridiculous Antics<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This award goes to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/new-york-yankees\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Yankees<\/a> left fielder <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gardnbr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brett Gardner<\/a><\/strong> for ramming the bat against the dugout roof on <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/08\/23\/ejection-inspection-201921-brett-gardner\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">August 17th<\/a> against the Cleveland Indians. He did this a few times this season, but that was the first time he was ejected over it. On <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/09\/30\/ejection-inspection-20192627-dave-roberts\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">September 20th<\/a>, he said, \u201cThat\u2019s low\u201d twice in the dugout, and then Greg Gibson launched him without giving any warning or even a \u201cthat\u2019s enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Most Weavers, Umpire<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Mike Estabrook drew 25 total Weavers from his ejections, but he had 13 ejections, making less than two per ejection. However, he had six that earned Three Weavers or higher. The highest average Weavers from umpires who had two or more ejections came from Mike Muchlinski. His June 30th <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/07\/13\/ejection-inspection-14-torey-lovullo-baited\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ejection<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/arizona-diamondbacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> manager <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lovulto01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Torey Lovullo<\/a><\/strong> earned five, while his other <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/09\/19\/ejection-inspection-20192501-bryce-harper\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ejection<\/a> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/texas-rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas Rangers<\/a> manager <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/w\/woodwch01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Woodward<\/a><\/strong> on September 12th \u2013 earned three.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Most Average Weavers, Manager<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This award only went to managers who had multiple ejections, otherwise Lovullo would have won, since his only ejection was a fiver. Until the last weekend of the season, this award would have gone to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/milwaukee-brewers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> manager <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/counscr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Craig Counsell<\/a><\/strong>, whose average was 4.5. However, his <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/09\/30\/ejection-inspection-20192627-dave-roberts\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ejection in Denver<\/a> earned zero, knocking his average down to three. Muchlinski baited him into the ejection, prompting the mild-mannered Lovullo to bolt out of the dugout and show Muchlinski with his fingers just how far outside he thought <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bumgama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Madison Bumgarner<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s pitches were. That wasn\u2019t what gave this such a high rating, though. Muchlinski walked up the third base line, and Lovullo stayed with him for a good 200 feet. This was the first Five Weaver ejection of the season, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/2019\/05\/30\/ejection-inspection-nine-mike-estabrook\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">it was a beauty<\/a>. It received first place over the \u201csavages\u201d rant because it had a back and forth, with neither party backing down, while the \u201csavages\u201d rant was a one-sided conversation.
