Mike Trout Done for the Season<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Along with the news that they’ve been eliminated, the Los Angeles Angles<\/a> received more sobering news. Mike Trout<\/a> is done for the season. Trout suffered a foot injury, effectively ending his 2019 campaign. The injury stems from earlier foot problems that sidelined the 28-year-old earlier this month. The eight-time All-Star suffered initially from Morton’s neuroma and will now have surgery to remove it.<\/p>\n

Initially, Trout suffered the injury prior to Sep. 7 and hasn’t seen his way into the lineup since then. Trout underwent a minor procedure on Monday to try and alleviate the pain. Unfortunately, that did not do much as Angels PR<\/a> reported that the pain was still prevalent.<\/p>\n

Trout is now expected to go under the knife to fix the problem, effectively ending his 2019 campaign. Trout has missed more than 30 games at a time just once during his eight-year playing career.<\/p>\n

Another Strong Season for Trout<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In his eighth season in the major league ranks, Trout has once again produced an MVP worthy season. Trout’s ending slash line will end up at .291\/.483\/.645. Those numbers go alongside his career-best 45 home runs, and 104 RBI on the season.<\/p>\n

His 2019 efforts have resulted in a third straight season with a season-ending OPS over 1.000. As things sit right now, Trout is on pace to lead the league in WRC+ for a third straight season. Trout is the only player to post a WAR mark of 8.0 or higher in two straight seasons over the last four years.<\/p>\n

Trout is still in line for another MVP award which would give him his third career honor.<\/p>\n

Another Domino to Fall<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Trout’s injury makes him yet another domino to fall for the Los Angeles Angels. Two-way star Shohei Ohtani<\/a> underwent season-ending knee surgery last Friday. That very same day Justin Upton<\/a> was announced to have his season coming to an end. Upton also was said to have suffered from a knee injury that fortunately does not require surgery.<\/p>\n

Catcher Max Stassi<\/a> remains uncertain with an oblique injury while All-Star infielder Tommy La Stella’s<\/a> status is up in the air. He suffered a right tibia issue back on July 2.<\/p>\n

The Angels are expecting for Trout to be back to full health come the start of spring training in 2020.<\/p>\n
