He made 15 regular season starts, and went 7-3 while posting a 1.97 ERA, 1.01 WHIP while striking out 89 batter and walking just 15 in 82.1 innings.<\/p>\n<h3>Injury Troubles<\/h3>\n<p>The South Korea native has now been in the league for five years, all with the Dodgers. He excelled in the Dodgers rotation his first two years. He went 28-15 with a 3.19 ERA and 293 strikeouts over his first 344 innings in Major League Baseball.<\/p>\n<p>However, since then Ryu has seemed to have been bitten by the injury bug. Over the past four seasons, he has made just a combined 40 starts.<\/p>\n<p>He missed the whole 2015 season due to a shoulder injury. He was then forced to undergo season ending elbow surgery after making jut one start in 2016. Ryu returned to the mound in 2017 to make 24 starts, but more injury problems limited him to the 15 starts this past season.<\/p>\n<h3>2019 Outlook<\/h3>\n<p>If he can stay healthy in 2019, Ryu figures to remain in the Dodgers rotation. He will join fellow lefty <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kershcl01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clayton Kershaw<\/a><\/strong>, young right hander <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/buehlwa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Walker Buehler<\/a><\/strong>, and veterans <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hillri01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rich Hill<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/w\/woodal02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Wood<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of this unit, the Dodgers have a ton of depth. Righty <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/maedake01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kenta Maeda<\/a><\/strong>, young lefty <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/u\/uriasju01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Julio Urias<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stripro01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ross Stripling<\/a><\/strong> all figure to be in the mix for starts next season.<\/p>\n<h3>Players to Decline Qualifying Offer<\/h3>\n<p>The six players who decided to decline the qualifying offer and test free agency were fellow Dodger <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/grandya01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yasmani Grandal<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kimbrcr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Craig Kimbrel<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/corbipa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Corbin<\/a><\/strong>, A.J.
