Since 2024, Bohm has been linked to trade rumors. Yet, the Phillies have kept him on their roster. With the trade deadline approaching, Bohm’s name has popped up once again.

The Phillies have several loopholes to fill as they continue to hold a spot in the playoffs. However, the most important part is surviving October. It’s clear that the franchise will make a couple of changes at the deadline, but will Bohm depart from the team? Let’s find out.

3 Reasons Why Alec Bohm Will Be Gone Soon

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBecSJOpHC" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 6000px; aspect-ratio: 6000/4000;" ></smartframe-embed>

Despite playing his entire Major League Baseball career in Philadelphia, Bohm might be in his final year with the team. Here are three reasons why the Phillies will trade Bohm soon.

Alec Bohm Is Heading to Free Agency

Bohm will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026 season. His $10.2 million deal with the Phillies was agreed to avoid arbitration. The Phillies might use this opportunity to trade him before the deadline instead of letting him walk into the free agent market.

The chances of the Phillies re-signing Bohm are pretty slim. Let’s face it, Bohm was no Kyle Schwarber or J.T. Realmuto for the Phillies to consider him seriously. Trading him at the deadline will give them an opportunity to pick another player for a long-term deal.

Bohm’s Poor Performance

Bohm’s struggles have been evident. The franchise is aware of his steady decline since the last season. This year is no better with his poor .219 batting average. The slugger has a dozen home runs with 49 RBIs and 77 hits. Bohm’s OBP is at .279, and his OPS is at .640.

Alec Bohm’s stats over the last 365 days:

459 AB | 110 H | 20 2B | 14 HR | 65 RBI |
32 BB | 77 K | .240/.296/.379 | .675 OPS pic.twitter.com/4SnxvLjG3q

— Phillies Tailgate (@PhilsTailgate) July 19, 2026

The Phillies need more than that to help them win. They need a reliable slugger to back the other players. There is time for Bohm to turn things around in the second half of the season. Still, it’s a long shot for the Nebraska native to prove himself and secure a spot on the roster next year.

The Phillies Need an Upgrade at Third Base

Alec Bohm has committed six errors this season, and he’s not been an exceptional player defensively. Moreover, the latest rumors suggest that Philadelphia is looking for a long-term third baseman. MLB insider Robert Murray has linked the Phillies to San Francisco Giants veteran Matt Chapman.

Things are not going in the right direction for Bohm at present. It’s time for him to perform, and the Phillies must at least make it to the World Series if he wants to be on the team. Those three reasons are enough for Dave Dombrowski to consider parting ways with Bohm.

Alec Bohm Reflects on the Team’s Current Struggles

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="a61405551f80e72f675225f083759bb9" image-id="fwuQbQUVejkC" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3320px; aspect-ratio: 3320/2408;" ></smartframe-embed>

Bohm was asked about the team’s current struggles, and his answer didn’t sit well with several fans. He mentioned that a lot of the team’s offensive struggles were due to the tough pitching in the league.

“A lot of it’s got to do with how tough the pitching has gotten in this league,” Bohm said.

“A lot of it’s got to do with how tough the pitching has gotten in this league.”

Alec Bohm on what’s contributing to the Phillies’ offensive struggles. | @WapnerNewman pic.twitter.com/pec1VtGY22

— NBC Sports Philadelphia (@NBCSPhilly) July 19, 2026

The Phillies struggled to defeat the New York Mets in their last game. Nolan McLean threw six scoreless innings, and the only run that came was from Bohm’s solo home run against A.J.
