The MLB All-Star Game takes place this coming Tuesday in Philadelphia. As the United States celebrates its 250th birthday<\/a>, it is fitting for Philadelphia, the host of the Continental Congress, to host the All-Star Game.<\/p>\n

After Philadelphia, we know Wrigley Field and the Chicago Cubs will host the Midsummer Classic in 2027. But who will host it in 2028 and so on? Let’s gaze into our crystal baseball and try to predict who will host the All-Star Game from 2028 to 2032.<\/p>\n

Predicting All-Star Game Host Cities<\/h2>\n

2028 All-Star Game: Camden Yards (Baltimore Orioles)<\/h3>\n

Camden Yards last hosted in 1993. The ballpark is currently undergoing state-financed renovations to improve the fan experience. Once those are finished, MLB might be tempted to showcase the new-look park on a big stage.<\/p>\n

At first glance, Baltimore is not conducive to hosting such a big event. The city has fewer hotels and venues for related events than other cities. However, that is not an automatic disqualifier, especially after the city nearly won a bid to host a FIFA World Cup game. In their bid, the city explained why it could be a suitable host<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“For example, it boasted of three major airports \u201cwithin a one-hour drive\u201d \u2014 which must depend on who\u2019s behind the wheel \u2014 Baltimore\u2019s history as \u201cone of the top seafood cities in the world,\u201d and 10,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the stadiums, plus 10,000 more within a 15-minute drive or light rail trip. ”<\/p>\n

If the city can come close to hosting a World Cup game, then you would have to think they have a good chance to host a future All-Star Game. Commissioner Rob Manfred even admitted that Camden Yards was in the running<\/a> for a future game.<\/p>\n

2029 All-Star Game: Yankee Stadium (New York Yankees)<\/h3>\n

The new Yankee Stadium has not yet hosted an All-Star Game since it opened in 2009. There is no better time to have it hosted than the 20th anniversary of its opening.<\/p>\n

There is no need to make a case explaining why it should host the Midsummer Classic. It may not be the original “House That Ruth Built,” but it is still a baseball cathedral, owned by the most successful franchise in baseball history.<\/p>\n

When the original Yankee Stadium<\/a> hosted the All-Star Game in 2008, the National Baseball Hall of Fame invited all living Hall of Famers to the game for recognition alongside that season’s All-Stars. With many new members joining since then, MLB could hold a similar ceremony at the new Yankee Stadium. A fitting way to celebrate the great game of baseball.<\/p>\n

2030 All-Star Game: Rogers Centre (Toronto Blue Jays)<\/h3>\n

Rogers Centre last hosted in 1991. Rogers Centre just underwent a $400 million renovation, strengthening its case to host a Midsummer Classic. Furthermore, Toronto was an excellent host during the World Series last season. Unlike Baltimore, there would be no concerns regarding adequate lodging and venues.<\/p>\n

With the World Baseball Classic<\/a> set for 2030, putting the All-Star Game in Toronto would be a nice way to have another country host an MLB event.<\/p>\n

2031 All-Star Game: New Las Vegas Stadium (Athletics)<\/h3>\n

The stadium is not even built yet, nor does it have a name. However, sports and sports entertainment have shown a fondness for having big events in Las Vegas. Super Bowl LVIII was played in Vegas, while the city has hosted WrestleMania the last two years. It is inevitable that Vegas will host an All-Star Game sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, MLB likes giving new ballparks an All-Star Game pretty soon after they open. Busch Stadium III hosted its fourth season. LoanDepot Park (then Marlins Park) hosted its sixth season. Target Field hosted its fifth season. It only makes sense to expect the A’s to host soon after they open a new ballpark.<\/p>\n

2032 All-Star Game: Fenway Park (Boston Red Sox)<\/h3>\n

Fenway Park last hosted in 1999. The iconic stadium has since hosted four World Series, two Winter Classic games, and a variety of college and high school football games. One could argue Fenway is overdue to host another All-Star Game.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, 2032 marks the 120th anniversary of Fenway Park’s opening. It is the oldest ballpark in MLB, yet it continues to provide fun fan experiences<\/a> and great baseball moments. As the ballpark celebrates another season, what better way to honor its history than by letting it host the All-Star Game?<\/p>\n

American League-Heavy, Isn’t It?<\/h3>\n

You may have noticed that all these ballparks are from the American League. In a perfect world, MLB would alternate the leagues that host the game, something former Commissioner Bud Selig tried to do. However, when Manfred took over, he introduced a bidding process to determine who would host future events. Manfred does plan to step down in January 2029, so it is possible a new process will be introduced by the new commissioner.<\/p>\n

As it is, recent All-Star Games have been National League-heavy. Since 2015, the NL has hosted seven of ten games. It is the AL’s turn to host some games.<\/p>\n
