There is still a ton of baseball to play in both the first and second halves of the season. As it looks now, it\u2019s between the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays in the divisional race.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why is this important? The Yankees don&#8217;t want to settle for a Wild Card berth this season, nor a Division Series knockout in the postseason. So what has to happen? The club needs to get healthy, all pieces need to be back, and certain areas need to be improved.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That being said, Brian Cashman and his office won\u2019t hesitate to make major splashes in the trade market. Top prospects will be all fair game when it comes to getting the club to a winning situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"alignleft\" style=\"max-width: 1280px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"a61405551f80e72f675225f083759bb9\" image-id=\"fwuQZm4CRsMc\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3900px; aspect-ratio: 3900\/2700;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are already some names floating around the rumor mill that could be on the market. Some of these individuals are notable movable pieces, although they could also benefit the Yankees as long as they stay. Which prospects are of trade interest here?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Yankees Prospects Could Make Solid Trade Chips<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong> Spencer Jones\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this point in the season, the club has multiple returning players from the injured list. These will bring normalcy to areas where the Yankees have been shorthanded, and will cancel out the need for supplementation. <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/j\/judgeaa01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-23_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaron Judge<\/a> will return to health, as well as <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stantmi03.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-23_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Giancarlo Stanton<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/colege01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-23_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gerrit Cole<\/a> is still getting back to his normal self after returning from Tommy John surgery. <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/f\/friedma01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-23_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Max Fried<\/a> is on the 45-day injured list, hoping to return in August. That being said, the Yankees could pursue a high-leverage starting pitcher, maybe a few relievers, and maybe a huge bat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be able to make a major addition, the Yankees will need to trade a key piece. <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonessp01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-23_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spencer Jones<\/a> fits the description. The prospect has a lot of upside, high ceilings for growth, and polished tools for the trade. His market value is high, and the prospect has the ability to build and grow with a club needing that. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Jones could also be in the plans for the Yankees&#8217; future outfield alignment, he could also be excluded. This would make him suitable as a tradeable Yankees prospect before the deadline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Jasson Dom\u00ednguez<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also in the outfield and in the MLB fight, <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/dominja01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-23_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jasson Dom\u00ednguez<\/a> is looking to find his footing. After months of injury and rehab, the longtime prospect has <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2026\/06\/17\/the-return-of-this-yankees-prospect-holds-weight-on-his-future\/\" target=\"_self\">returned to the big leagues<\/a>. Dom\u00ednguez is also on ice, and his performance will be assessed to determine whether he remains in pinstripes. The outfielder shows upside on both ends of the baseball, as well as on the basepaths. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dom\u00ednguez would also be a bold name to include in a blockbuster deal, or a piece that brings in two to three return pieces.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ben Hess<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fifth-ranked Yankees prospect, <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=hess--000ben&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-23_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Hess<\/a>, is expected to make it to the show in 2027. The big right-hander is the reason why the Yankees&#8217; organizational pitching depth is ranked high.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2024 first-rounder will provide a future option for other clubs who will also maintain some control. He\u2019s a strikeout machine with competitive pitch options and provides depth.
