The New York Yankees have had a bit of both so far in 2026, but what sets them apart from many other teams is that their success is not being spearheaded by their best players. One of those guys, who has been one of their best relievers in 2026, is left-hander Brent Headrick.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBixQLn1r6" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5000px; aspect-ratio: 5000/3296;" ></smartframe-embed>

The 28-year-old, hailing from Illinois, has quietly become one of manager Aaron Boone’s most reliable arms out of the ‘pen. Joining the Yankees last year after spending two years with Minnesota, Headrick has 27 innings under his belt to the tune of 29 strikeouts, 10 walks, and an ERA of just 2.00. Though it’s only June, it already appears that Headrick is and will be one of the key pieces of New York’s bullpen down the stretch and into the fall.

2. Ben Rice’s Breakout

For Yankee fans who actually watched Ben Rice all of last year, this one isn’t really too much of a surprise. He’s also already surpassed his total brWAR from last season, racking up a total of 2.3 in brWAR so far as a first baseman/DH.
