The Los Angeles Dodgers are closer to getting second basemen\/center fielder Tommy Edman<\/a> back, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Manager Dave Roberts<\/a> told the media that Edman’s first stop will be Arizona to work on his swing. He has been doing running drills on the field at full speed. If there are no setbacks, he could be headed to a rehab assignment as early as next week. This is good news for Los Angeles, who have been hit hard with a slew of injuries of late, the latest being Blake Snell’s elbow surgery<\/a> and Tyler Glasnow’s setback<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Edman came to the Dodgers from the St. Louis Cardinals via a three-team trade<\/a> near the deadline in July of 2024. He was on the injured list then for the very same ankle. He recovered enough to have a major impact with his bat and glove down the stretch that year. It led to a National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player nod for Edman and a World Series ring.<\/p>\n
