Despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2026\/05\/09\/brewers-acquired-priester\/\" target=\"_self\">long list of injuries<\/a> the\u00a0Brewers are dealing with this season, nothing has stopped them from remaining a powerhouse.<\/p>\n<h2>Brewers Momentum From Yankees Sweep<\/h2>\n<p>1989 was the last time the Brewers swept the Yankees, but after 37 years, the Brewers did so again in 2026. Brewers second baseman <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/turanbr02.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brice Turang<\/a> delivered a walk-off to clinch the sweep. The Brewers held the Yankees to two runs and six hits, with 17 strikeouts in the series. The Brewers defeated the Padres 7-1, with seven strikeouts from Brewers&#8217; pitcher Kyle Harrison. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2026\/05\/04\/key-injured-brewers-update-chourio-vaughn-woodruff\/\" target=\"_self\">Jackson Chourio<\/a> has returned to the lineup, while <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2026\/04\/23\/brewers-brice-turang-opens-up-potential-contract-extension\/\" target=\"_self\">Turang<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sanchga02.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gary S\u00e1nchez<\/a> had RBI doubles.<\/p>\n<p>As for the Padres, the team struggled in all facets of the game. Starting pitcher <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cannigr01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Griffin Canning<\/a> allowed six runs and walked four batters.<\/p>\n<h2>Injury Updates on the Brewers Roster<\/h2>\n<p>Even as the Brewers&#8217; momentum is being brought into the series, however, their roster is taking a hit due to ongoing injuries. Recently, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/y\/yelicch01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christian Yelich<\/a> was ruled out of the starting lineup and appeared only one time in the series. Murphy said that Yelich is additionally dealing with back soreness after being out with an adductor strain.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, there are other players on the roster alongside Yelich as well with an injury. Right-hander<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/kyle-schwarber-s-homer-jesus-luzardo-s-start-fuel-phillies-win\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Jacob Misiorowski<\/a> has right quad cramping, while outfielder <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lockrbr01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Lockridge<\/a> remains out with a right knee laceration. Left-hander <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/z\/zastrro01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rob Zastryzny<\/a> is recovering from a left shoulder strain and an intercostal strain, and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/priesqu01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quinn Priester<\/a> is still out with right neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome.<\/p>\n<h2>Brewers Sweep Twins, Heading to Chicago<\/h2>\n<p>As the Brewers end their series sweep with the Padres, they are heading to the Twin Cities to face Minnesota. As the team looks to keep the winning streak alive while also monitoring the status of its key players who are currently on the injured list. With the upcoming series happening, the Brewers are also looking for more of the pitching that helped them in their 5-1 homestand.<\/p>\n<p>The Brewers will enter the series at 24-17, tying the St. Louis Cardinals in second place in the National League Central.
