The injury plague has hit early in 2026, with very few Mets injury updates yet available. However, is help finally on the way? As of right now, three of the Mets\u2019 starting position players are on the injured list, battling several injuries, including Francisco Lindor<\/a>, who was finally starting to produce offensively before going down. Ironically, Lindor suffered a similar calf injury right as Juan Soto<\/a> returned to the lineup on April 23.<\/p>\n

Along with Lindor, the Mets are currently missing Jorge Polanco and Luis Robert Jr. \u2014 two players with lengthy injury histories. After weeks with very few updates, Carlos Mendoza finally provided new details on several injured Mets, including a few pitchers.<\/p>\n

The current Mets injury updates on the bats<\/h2>\n

The Mets\u2019 offense currently sits dead last in team OPS and ranks second-worst in baseball with a .224 batting average. Mendoza has relied on the likes of Austin Slater and Vidal Bruj\u00e1n to fill the holes left by injuries, forcing fans to watch some brutal lineups over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n

Jorge Polanco signed a two-year, $40 million deal this offseason, taking over responsibilities at first base. Through 14 games, the former Mariner struggled badly, batting .179 with one home run and two RBIs while striking out 11 times. However, Polanco had been dealing with Achilles bursitis since Opening Weekend, eventually landing on the IL with little information surrounding his recovery until now.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome good days, some other days when it\u2019s not as good,\u201d Mendoza said regarding Polanco\u2019s Achilles. \u201cHe did baseball activity yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Polanco was seen taking batting practice before the Mets-Diamondbacks game last night. Mendoza also clarified that Polanco\u2019s wrist injury is now in \u201ca good place.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Luis Robert Jr., however, things remain the complete opposite. Robert, who landed<\/a> on the IL on April 30 with a lumbar spine disc herniation, still has not resumed baseball activities, according to Mendoza. Like Polanco, Robert struggled offensively to begin the season, batting .224 with two home runs and eight RBIs.<\/p>\n

Even with both players struggling early on, their returns would still provide a massive boost to a Mets offense desperately needing help. As for Lindor, his status remains unchanged, with the star shortstop expected<\/a> to miss 6-8 weeks after suffering a more serious calf injury than the one that sidelined Soto for 15 games.<\/p>\n

Mets Pitching injury updates<\/h2>\n

For Mets fans, the next two updates separate into one encouraging development and one that solves absolutely nothing.<\/p>\n

Last offseason, David Stearns added former Braves reliever A.J. Minter despite his extensive injury history. Before getting hurt, Minter looked dominant, posting a 1.64 ERA through 11 innings while giving the Mets a reliable setup option behind Edwin D\u00edaz.<\/p>\n

However, what initially looked like a return that could save Mets fans from more Craig Kimbrel innings quickly took another turn. Minter recently suffered a setback after experiencing left hip discomfort during a rehab assignment. Mendoza provided another update today, stating the veteran threw a bullpen yesterday and came away feeling fine.<\/p>\n

In nine rehab appearances, Minter continued to look dominant, posting a 1.04 ERA across 8.2 innings with four strikeouts and a 0.69 WHIP.<\/p>\n

Now for the bad news \u2014 Kodai Senga threw a bullpen today. Senga entered 2026 as a major bounce-back candidate, but continued showing disastrous signs before hitting the IL on April 28.
