It was reported that he had back spasms. According to the lanky hurler, it’s something he has dealt with since high school. The 6′ 8″ pitcher is “not sure” whether or not the pain he experiences is because of his height. It would be a blow to the rotation if Glasnow has to miss time. He is 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA and 49 strikeouts.

Blake Snell will start for the Dodgers this Saturday, rather than make a final rehab outing, per source

TBD what corresponding move will be — but could obviously have something to do with Tyler Glasnow’s back injury

— Jack Harris (@ByJackHarris) May 8, 2026

Annual Trip to the IL

Originally, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was optimistic that Glasnow would be able to avoid the injured list. Roberts did say that his right-hander would undergo an MRI just to be safe. Apparently, the test may have revealed something significant enough to sideline the ace. It’s easy to assume that Glasnow will be out of commission for a while.

In his time with the Dodgers, Glasnow has missed time every season with an ailment of some sort. He missed the second half of the season with an elbow injury in 2024. In 2025, he missed the first half of the year with a shoulder issue before they activated him in July. However, when he is healthy, Glasnow has proven difficult to hit. In the 2025 postseason, the right-hander did yeoman’s work out of the bullpen. It was the first time in his career that he served in a relief role.

The Return of Snellzilla

For his part, Blake Snell provided integral relief in the postseason, too, but apparently that role led to some shoulder fatigue. Ideally, the Dodgers would have liked for him to work up to five innings an outing, but it isn’t to be. At least Snell will return in time for his bobblehead night tomorrow.

Main Photo Credit: Gary A.
