After a solid start to his 2026 season in the minor leagues, Joe Mack has received a call-up<\/a> to the Marlins, according to Craig Mish of Marlins TV. The catcher, who is ranked #4 in the Marlins prospect rankings according to MLB.com, has impressed in AAA so far. While his power numbers are not where they have been in years past, Mack is showing a keen ability to get on base. In a subsequent move, Agustin Ramirez<\/a>, who has struggled behind the plate and at the plate for the Marlins, has been sent down to AAA Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

Marlins Call Up #4 Prospect Joe Mack<\/h2>\n

His 20 walks to 22 strikeouts ratio is incredibly impressive for a player of his age and experience. It is yet to be seen what Mack’s role will be on the team, whether it will be as a platoon catcher, a designated hitter, or both. In his previous seasons in the Marlins farm system, he has shown power in his bat and a strong arm behind the plate. His 43 extra-base hits in 113 games last season, coupled with a 30% caught stealing rate, will hopefully make him a strong contender to get his fair share of game-time in Miami.<\/p>\n

Ramirez has been below average at the plate for Miami, after showing glimpses in 2025, where he finished sixth in National League Rookie of the Year<\/a> voting. It has been a conversation for quite a few weeks amongst Marlins fans and aggregators as to how long Ramirez would last with his underperforming output.<\/p>\n

Potential for More Prospects To Be Called Up<\/h2>\n

Mack’s call-up to the Majors shows trust in the 23-year-old, as Marlins manager Clayton McCullough<\/a> may look to trust his prospect talent moving forward. This could be good news for top prospects<\/a> like Robbie Snelling, Thomas White, and Kemp Alderman, three of the Marlins’ top-eight prospects. Mack will join the team on Monday as they close out a four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies.<\/p>\n
