Starter <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/w\/woodrbr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-30_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Woodruff<\/a> exited Thursday&#8217;s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after two innings with a dead arm, although he later said he didn&#8217;t feel like he suffered an injury. His fastball velocity was significantly down, with no pitch surpassing 88 mph. The team is currently conducting an evaluation, and no matter what turns up, it seems likely Woodruff will have to spend some time on the injured list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"alignleft\" style=\"max-width: 1200px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf\" image-id=\"WmOBOV1494TQ\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3600px; aspect-ratio: 3600\/2400;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<h2>Brandon Woodruff Exits with Possible Injury; IL Stint Appears Likely<\/h2>\n<p>Woodruff considered <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/11\/15\/are-milwaukee-brewers-major-player-free-agency\/\" target=\"_self\">testing free agency<\/a> this past offseason, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/11\/03\/mlb-offseason-contract-options-qualifying-offers-monday-recap\/\" target=\"_self\">declining his mutual option<\/a> with the Brewers. However, a few weeks later, he accepted a one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer to stay in Milwaukee. The two-time All-Star broke into the majors in 2017 and is in his ninth season with the Brewers (he missed the entire 2024 season after undergoing right shoulder surgery). While he did not surrender any runs, and the Brewers eventually romped to a 13-1 win, something was clearly wrong, so manager <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/managers\/murphpa99.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pat Murphy<\/a> got him out of the game. After the game, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reported that Woodruff will undergo more testing. Murphy said Woodruff told him he didn&#8217;t feel injured, just that his &#8220;arm&#8217;s dead.&#8221; Murphy added that an IL stint was a possibility, but the team hadn&#8217;t reached a decision yet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Pat Murphy on Woodruff: \u201cHe doesn\u2019t feel like he\u2019s injured.
