One issue the Baltimore Orioles keep running into with their lineup is a lack of production from their outfield players. The good news is that outfield prospect Ike Irish<\/a>‘s performance might offer a long-term solution within the next two years for the team’s continuing struggles in the deepest part of the ballpark.<\/p>\n

Irish, drafted in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft<\/a>, made the jump to High-A in 2026 and is performing well enough to warrant a serious look. The 22-year-old is offering production at the outfield position that the team has struggled with until this year, with the Taylor Ward<\/a> trade having a huge impact<\/a> so far this season. It might also help them wash out the pain of Heston Kjerstad<\/a> being unable to find his footing in the major leagues.<\/p>\n

Irish, after being drafted in 2025, posted a .230\/.297\/.594 slash line with a single home run and 12 RBI. He struggled to a 25% strikeout rate and only garnered six walks in 74 at-bats. Scouts loved<\/a> his ability to produce at the plate, including his pop at the plate, slugging 27 home runs over two years.<\/p>\n

The Orioles have let Irish, who moved from catcher to the outfield, develop his own approach at the plate, including being left-eye dominant. Instead of changing it, Baltimore let him keep that tool in his profile and adjust to it at the professional level.<\/p>\n
