But with Stanton and<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/j\/judgeaa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaron Judge<\/a><\/strong> attracting all the attention, look for some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/new-york-yankees\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Yankees<\/a>&#8216; complementary bats lower in the order to have career years such as<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gregodi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Didi Gregorius<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/birdgr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greg Bird<\/a><\/strong>, and<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/drurybr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Drury<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Greenberg: <\/strong>Though the Yankees are loaded at the plate, their pitching remains a clear weakness. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/boston-red-sox\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Red Sox<\/a> can hit and pitch. The more complete team will win the division.<\/p>\n<p>Jarred: Yankees<br \/>\nSean: Yankees<br \/>\nPaul: Yankees<br \/>\nJack: Red Sox<br \/>\nMichael: \u00a0Yankees<br \/>\nCarson: Yankees<br \/>\nJustin: Red Sox<br \/>\nBrandon: Yankees<\/p>\n<h3>AL CENTRAL<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Josh<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/cleveland-indians\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cleveland Indians<\/a>. This is still more or less the same team that made it to the World Series two years ago and won the division by 17 games in 2017. They won&#8217;t relinquish the throne in 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Justin Morgan<\/strong>: The Cleveland Indians will run away with the American League Central.<\/p>\n<p>Jarred: Indians<br \/>\nSean: Indians<br \/>\nJack: Indians<br \/>\nMichael: Indians<br \/>\nMike: Indians<br \/>\nCarson: Indians<br \/>\nPaul: Indians<br \/>\nBrandon: Indians<\/p>\n<h3>AL WEST<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Jarred Long: <\/strong>It&#8217;s hard not to pick the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/houston-astros\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Houston Astros<\/a> as the AL West winners again. They added to their roster while keeping 95% <a href=\"lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/\/2017\/11\/01\/houston-astros-win-2017world-series\/\" target=\"_self\">of the &#8217;17 WS team intact<\/a>. However, their division lead won&#8217;t be as substantial as last year&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Harvey<\/strong>: The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/los-angeles-angels\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Angels<\/a> are definitely hoping for a full year of<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/troutmi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Trout<\/a><\/strong> to go alongside Japanese newcomer<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=otani-000sho&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shohei Ohtani<\/a><\/strong>. However, the Astros could be even better than last season with the addition of<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/colege01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gerrit Cole<\/a><\/strong>. The defending champs may face a tougher division this season, but they should still comfortably reach the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>Sean: Astros<br \/>\nJack: Astros<br \/>\nJosh: Astros<br \/>\nMichael: Astros<br \/>\nMike: Astros<br \/>\nCarson: Astros<br \/>\nJustin: Astros<br \/>\nBrandon: Astros<\/p>\n<h3>AL Wild Card<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mike: <\/strong>Three teams from the AL West will make the playoffs this year. The Angels are much improved while the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/seattle-mariners\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seattle Mariners<\/a> have the pieces in place to finally end their 16-year postseason drought. The Red Sox will be the surprise team that misses out on the postseason in the AL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson Babbini<\/strong>: After a long battle with the Indians during the season, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/minnesota-twins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Twins<\/a> will lock up the first Wild Card spot. The Red Sox will get the second spot after finishing second in the AL East.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brandon Murphy:\u00a0<\/strong>No team had a better off-season than the Angels, adding <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kinslia01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ian Kinsler<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cozarza01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zack Cozart<\/a><\/strong> to an infield that is now the best defensively in baseball and a dominant lineup that boasts the best player in baseball. The biggest progression of this team, however, will be the starting rotation. Los Angeles will finally have a rotation healthy enough to compete and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=otani-000sho&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shohei Ohtani<\/a><\/strong> will prove his worth stateside. Boston\u2019s core offense was strong as ever, then they added<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/martijd02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">J.D. Martinez<\/a><\/strong>. Combine that with budding star <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/deverra01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rafael Devers<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s first full season and Boston\u2019s bats will be tops in the league. Their above-average rotation can win the Wild Card for them, however, if<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/priceda01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Price<\/a><\/strong> returns to his ace form, they\u2019ll compete for the AL East crown all season.<\/p>\n<p>Jarred: Red Sox &amp; Angels<br \/>\nSean: Red Sox &amp; Twins<br \/>\nPaul: LA Angels &amp; Twins<br \/>\nJack: Yankees &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/toronto-blue-jays\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Blue Jays<\/a><br \/>\nJosh: Angels &amp; Yankees<br \/>\nMichael: Red Sox &amp; Angels<br \/>\nJustin: Yankees &amp; Twins<\/p>\n<h3>NL EAST<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Paul: <\/strong>The NL East was a disaster in 2017, and it very well could be about the same in 2018. The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/philadelphia-phillies\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/new-york-mets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Mets<\/a> <a href=\"lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/\/2018\/03\/12\/jake-arrieta-signs-with-the-philadelphia-phillies\/\" target=\"_self\">spent money this off-season<\/a> to try and improve, but neither likely did enough to catch Washington. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/washington-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Nationals<\/a> should have more than enough firepower to take the division.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mike: <\/strong>In what may be<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/harpebr03.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bryce Harper<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s final year in the district, the Nats will once again be a regular season force. The question is if they will finally be able to overcome the hurdle of the NLDS after failing to do so in all four tries since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Jarred: Nationals<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Sean: Nationals<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Jack: Nationals<br \/>\nJosh: Nationals<br \/>\nMichael: Nationals<br \/>\nCarson: Nationals<br \/>\nJustin: Nationals<br \/>\nBrandon: Nationals<\/p>\n<h3>NL CENTRAL<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Jack Weber: <\/strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/st-louis-cardinals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> will give the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/chicago-cubs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Cubs<\/a> a heck of a push, but Chicago will hold on to win another NL Central title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jarred Long<\/strong>: New additions to the pitching staff have some concerned with the ability of the Cubs to win the division again. Look for the Cardinals and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/milwaukee-brewers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> to contend as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh<\/strong>: Brewers. Milwaukee quietly had a better off-season than almost any other team, and the Cubs, while still a very good team, got worse. This will be a close one, but the Brew Crew will knock Chicago off the throne.<\/p>\n<p>Sean: Cubs<br \/>\nPaul: Cubs<br \/>\nMichael: Cubs<br \/>\nMike: Cubs<br \/>\nCarson: Cubs<br \/>\nJustin: Cubs<br \/>\nBrandon: Cubs<\/p>\n<h3>NL WEST<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Paul: <\/strong>Many believe this to be the Dodgers division to lose, but there are questions with the defending NL champs as the season approaches. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kershcl01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clayton Kershaw<\/a><\/strong> hasn&#8217;t reached 30 starts each of the past two seasons, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/turneju01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Justin Turner<\/a> <\/strong>is already sidelined with a broken wrist. The Dodgers should still have firepower, but the Rockies tried to address their bullpen and maintain a powerful lineup led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/a\/arenano01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nolan Arenado<\/a> and<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/storytr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trevor Story<\/a><\/strong>. In a tough division, Turner&#8217;s injury could prove pivotal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jarred<\/strong>: The Dodgers will be looking for World Series redemption, bringing back a lot of players from last season. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/arizona-diamondbacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> will also be looking for some success, despite losing early in the playoffs last season.<\/p>\n<p>Sean: Dodgers<br \/>\nJack: Dodgers<br \/>\nJosh: Dodgers<br \/>\nMichael: Dodgers<br \/>\nMike: Giants<br \/>\nCarson: Dodgers<br \/>\nJustin: Dodgers<br \/>\nBrandon: Dodgers<\/p>\n<h3>NL Wild Card<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Jack Weber:<\/strong> The Cardinals host the NL Wild Card game, and there will be fierce competition for the second Wild Card from teams like the Diamondbacks, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/colorado-rockies\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Rockies<\/a>, Mets and Brewers, but it will be the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/san-francisco-giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Francisco Giants<\/a> who claim it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson<\/strong>: The Brewers will make their long-awaited return to the playoffs in the Wild Card. They will face off against the Diamondbacks who will sneak into that second Wild Card spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brandon<\/strong>: St. Louis took advantage of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/miami-marlins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Miami Marlins<\/a>\u2019 <a href=\"lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/\/2017\/12\/13\/the-st-louis-cardinals-acquire-marcell-ozuna\/\" target=\"_self\">fire sale and added<\/a> young slugger<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/o\/ozunama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcell Ozuna<\/a><\/strong> to an already above-average offense.<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=martica04,martica03,martica02,martin019car&amp;search=Carlos+Martinez&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carlos Martinez<\/a><\/strong> and the complementary staff surrounding him will be dependable down the stretch. The effectiveness of the bullpen will be the real key to whether the Cardinals advance to October.\u00a0Another winner in the<a href=\"lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/\/2018\/01\/25\/milwaukee-brewers-acquire-christian-yelich\/\" target=\"_self\"> Miami free-for-all was the Brewers<\/a>, who added<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/y\/yelicch01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christian Yelich<\/a><\/strong>\u2014as well as free agent<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cainlo01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lorenzo Cain<\/a><\/strong>\u2014 <a href=\"lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/\/2018\/01\/25\/lorenzo-cain-signs-with-milwaukee-brewers\/\" target=\"_self\">to bolster their outfield<\/a> along side 2017 breakout<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/broxtke01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keon Broxton<\/a><\/strong>. Expect their middling rotation\u2014paired with a dominant bullpen\u2014to give them just what Milwaukee needs to slide into the last playoff spot.<\/p>\n<p>Jarred: Diamondbacks &amp; Brewers<br \/>\nSean: Brewers &amp; Diamondbacks<br \/>\nPaul: Dodgers &amp; Brewers<br \/>\nJosh: Cubs &amp; Rockies<br \/>\nMichael: Rockies &amp; Cardinals<br \/>\nMike: Brewers &amp; Mets<br \/>\nJustin: Brewers &amp; Cardinals<\/p>\n<h2>Post Season<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Michael Brightling: <\/strong>As no team has repeated as champions for nearly 20 years I won\u2019t pick Houston in the post season. Washington on paper could\/should win the NL Pennant but they haven\u2019t once given me reason to believe they will actually come through when it counts. So I\u2019m going to say the Yankees over the Dodgers in their first World Series clash since 1981.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson<\/strong>: In what will be one of the greatest ALCS match-ups in recent history, the Stanton and Judge led New York Yankees will defeat the reigning champion Astros in seven games. In the NLCS the Los Angeles Dodgers will go back to the World Series, defeating the Chicago Cubs in seven games as well. Two of the most successful franchises in MLB history go head to head as the Yankees take on the Dodgers. But, in six games, it will be the New York Yankees who will bring the title back to Tinseltown and the Yankee faithful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Justin<\/strong>: This will be the year for the Washington Nationals as I have a Washington-Houston World Series with the Nationals taking it home in a seven-game series.
