In a shocking announcement on Saturday evening, the Boston Red Sox<\/a> announced multiple changes to their coaching staff. Five members of the staff have fired, including manager Alex Cora<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Boston Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora<\/a>, hitting coach Peter Fatse, bench coach R\u00e1mon Vazquez and game-planning coach Jason Varitek<\/a>, sources tell ESPN.<\/p>\n

While the Red Sox won today, they are 10-17 and in last in the American League East. Massive change is coming in Boston.<\/p>\n

In addition to Cora, hitting coach Pete Fatse has been fired along with bench coach Ramon Vazquez<\/a> and third base coach Kyle Hudson<\/a>. Jason Varitek<\/a>, the game-planning coach and two-time World Series champion as a player in Boston, was also fired.<\/p>\n

Rough Start to 2026<\/h3>\n

The Red Sox entered the season with playoff aspirations. They made multiple moves this offseason<\/a> to improve the team. However, they have not found success on the field to this point. Despite a convincing 17-1 victory on Saturday over the Baltimore Orioles, the Red Sox are making changes as they look to turn their season around while there is still time.<\/p>\n

Cora’s Red Sox Tenure Ends Suddenly<\/h3>\n

This is shocking news to say the least. Despite the Red Sox struggling, few expected Cora to be on the hot seat. With the exception of the 2020 season due to his role in a sign-stealing scandal, Core has managed the Red Sox since 2018. In his first season with the Red Sox, the team won 108 games and also won the World Series.<\/p>\n

Under Cora, the Red Sox reached the playoffs three times. In addition to winning the 2018 World Series, Cora also led the Red Sox to the American League Championship Series in 2021.<\/p>\n
