However, baseball is a game where having all nine spots get hot at the same time is unlikely. There will be times when some guys get into a slump, and some guys will hit anything thrown. Over the last couple of weeks, the story of the Cardinals’ offense has been Jordan Walker. Don’t get it twisted, Walker is still off to a great start on his way to a possible breakout season. However, he has cooled off a bit over the last couple of games. Now, it’s Masyn Winn‘s offense catching fire in the Cardinals’ lineup.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBArspETwA" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3072px; aspect-ratio: 3072/2048;" ></smartframe-embed>

Masyn Winn Continues Hot Streak of Offense for Cardinals

Cold Start

The 2026 season did not start great for the 24-year-old shortstop. He had a slash line of .188/.339/.250 through the first 14 games of the season. In that span, he also collected only one RBI, but it was an important walk-off single against the New York Mets back on April 1st. Winn also battled some nagging injuries and a car accident throughout that time as well. Did those factors ultimately lead Winn’s offense to a slow start? It’s possible. Or was it an unusual slot in the lineup?

Winn started the season as the Cardinals’ cleanup hitter. Not many people had that option on any baseball bingo cards, to say the least. As the Birds’ four-hole hitter, he struggled. Winn played six games in that spot, where he had 25 at-bats, four hits, one RBI, five strikeouts, and a .160 batting average. It was an unusual spot for someone like Winn to be in. Considering he’s not the prototypical clean-up hitter. Winn’s offense isn’t going to produce the high home run/RBI totals a team is looking for. It’s almost as if he was trying to be a player he is not, leading him to press.

Hometown Hero

After returning from a nagging hip and knee injury, Winn has been moved to the sixth spot in the Cardinals’ lineup. Since then, Winn’s offense has improved drastically. While hitting in that spot of the order, Winn has 42 at-bats, 13 hits, one homer, eight RBI, and a .310 batting average. And the success came to light when he returned to his hometown of Houston, where the Cardinals faced the Astros.

During the series in Houston, Winn’s offensive numbers took a massive jump. He went 5-for-15 with one homer and seven RBI in the series alone. He also had the clutch two-out, bases-clearing double in the 10th inning on Sunday to lead the Cardinals to sweep the series. And ever since those three games, Winn’s offense has continued to click in this series against the Miami Marlins.

Masyn Winn extends the @Cardinals lead with a long ball 😎 pic.twitter.com/fo0URBU7nf

— MLB (@MLB) April 18, 2026

“Winn” the Battle

The Cardinals are currently taking on the Marlins down in South Beach to start the week. Just like the Florida sun, Winn’s offense continues to heat up. He is currently 4-7 in the series with one triple, one double, and an RBI going into the rubber match of the series on Wednesday. After two more solid performances, Winn’s offensive numbers are still on the rise. They may not jump off the page at the average viewer, but from where they started, they’re definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Winn’s slashline has now jumped to .257/.354/.754 in just over a couple of weeks. He has a total of 18 hits, one home run, nine RBI, and 3 stolen bases to go along with the slash line. Again, it may not be Aaron Judge or Shohei Ohtani‘s numbers. However, if Winn’s offense can remain consistent like he has been over the last couple of weeks, it could be a big factor in getting this Cardinals’ offense in high gear. There’s a lot of season left, but from what Winn and the Cardinals are showing early, this team is going to be fun to watch all season.

Main Photo Credit: Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

For the St. Louis Cardinals to have success in 2026, they will need help from all nine spots in the lineup.
