The 21-year-old shortstop is currently with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. Milwaukee selected Pratt in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Magnolia Heights High School in Senatobia, Mississippi. His minor league career now totals parts of four seasons across five levels. With Double-A Biloxi last year, Pratt slashed .238/.343/.348 with eight home runs, 62 RBI, 31 stolen bases, and 71 runs scored in 120 games.

The Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of finalizing an 8-year deal for slightly more than $50 million with 21-year prized shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt, who had not played above Class AA until this year. The deal will include two option years for about $15 million a year.

— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) March 30, 2026

Pratt has only played three games at Triple-A so far, going 4-for-15 at the plate. However, he just got a good taste of spring training with the Brewers, appearing in 18 games. In Arizona, he hit .294 (10-for-34) with no homers, four RBI, two steals, and 10 runs scored. Notably, Pratt appeared in Milwaukee’s Spring Breakout game, going 1-for-3 with a run scored as the Brewers prospects beat the Seattle Mariners prospects 7-3 on March 20.

Known for his speed, his plate discipline, and his power potential, Cooper Pratt is one of the Brewers’ more exciting farmhands, and this extension signals he will be a key part of the Brewers organization for years to come. As he gets more reps at Triple-A, a strong performance could earn him a call-up to the majors as early as later this year.
