The Milwaukee Brewers are locking up one of their top prospects<\/a> for the long haul. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the team is “on the verge of finalizing” an eight-year extension with minor league shortstop Cooper Pratt<\/a>. MLB Network insider Jon Heyman further reported<\/a> that the deal totals $50.75 million. Nightengale added that the deal also includes two option years for around $15 million each.<\/p>\n

Pratt currently ranks as the Brewers’ No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and No. 62 across all of MLB. The 21-year-old shortstop is currently with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. Milwaukee selected Pratt in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Magnolia Heights High School in Senatobia, Mississippi. His minor league career now totals parts of four seasons across five levels. With Double-A Biloxi last year, Pratt slashed .238\/.343\/.348 with eight home runs, 62 RBI, 31 stolen bases, and 71 runs scored in 120 games.<\/p>\n

The Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of finalizing an 8-year deal for slightly more than $50 million with 21-year prized shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt, who had not played above Class AA until this year. The deal will include two option years for about $15 million a year.<\/p>\n
