The deal comes on the day of the Cubs’ season opener, a 10-4 home loss to the Washington Nationals. Hoerner went 0-for-4 in the game, reaching on an error and scoring a run. The financial details of the extension have not been reported yet. The 28-year-old Hoerner was widely considered to be on the trade market<\/a> this offseason.
