At the same time, Baltimore continues to <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/milb\/news\/farm-system-rankings-2026-preseason?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rank<\/a> near or around the middle of the pack despite the promotion of their players and trades. That&#8217;s in part due to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2026\/02\/05\/invitees-worth-watching-at-orioles-spring-training\/\" target=\"_self\">strong draft classes<\/a> and international free agent signings.<\/p>\n<p>Their <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2026\/01\/20\/orioles-restack-depleted-farm-system-international-free-agents\/\" target=\"_self\">2026 farm system<\/a>, though not as tantalizing as in 2024, still features some new faces worth watching. None of them are guaranteed a spot in the future, but they could also be used to make blockbuster trades or make a spot start.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"max-width: 610px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf\" image-id=\"WmOBaHj6l8uq\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5122px; aspect-ratio: 5122\/3841;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<h2>Top Orioles Prospects to Watch in 2026<\/h2>\n<h2>1) Right-Handed Pitcher Esteban Mejia<\/h2>\n<p><em>2025 Stats (Rookie\/Single-A): 14 starts; 1-4; 2.94 ERA; 52 innings; 36 hits and 31 walks (1.288 WHIP); 67 K; 0 HR; .191 OBA<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2024 international free-agent signee <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=mejia-001est,mejia-000est&amp;search=Esteban+Mejia&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Esteban Mejia<\/a> only got $175,000 to play for the team, but has quickly become one of the more intriguing arms in their system. There has been a downgrade in Mejia&#8217;s changeup from a 55 to a 45, but his fastball remains lively. His four-seamer not only hits the upper 90s frequently, but it&#8217;s also touched 102 mph at points.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Esteban Mejia (BAL) is one of the most advanced pitchers for his age.<\/p>\n<p>At just 18 years old, Mejia can run his heater up to 102 MPH and his slider to the low 90s as a starting pitcher. He reaches deep positions and is highly athletic, throwing from a low release. <a  href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zBzq6WyRDo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/zBzq6WyRDo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nate Roper (@NateRoper_) <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NateRoper_\/status\/2019582503166910468?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">February 6, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span>His best secondary offering is a hard, gyro-like slider he can snap in the low 90s, and he also throws a firm, developing changeup in the low 90s that is still a work in progress despite good action,&#8221; Mejia&#8217;s <a  href=\"https:\/\/baseballsavant.mlb.com\/savant-player\/esteban-mejia-821757?stats=career-r-pitching-milb\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baseball Savant<\/a> scouting report reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s good enough for the number eight slot in MLB Pipeline&#8217;s ranking of the Orioles top prospects. He also ranks number seven in Baseball America&#8217;s ranking of Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p>Mejia is a strong power pitcher, racking up 111 strikeouts over 79 2\/3 innings. It&#8217;s also tantalizing to see someone who hasn&#8217;t given up a single home run in that time. He does have a walk problem, issuing 46 of them across two seasons. The 19-year-old is not expected to pitch in the majors until 2029. But he has enough time to fix his control issues.<\/p>\n<h2>2) Right-Handed Pitcher Levi Wells<\/h2>\n<p><em>2025 Stats (Double\/Triple-A): 25 appearances (21 starts); 2-6; 3.48 ERA; 95.2 innings; 87 hits and 39 walks (1.317 WHIP); 7 HRs; 96 K; .237 OBA<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Several of the Orioles&#8217; pitching prospects have been busts so far, including <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcderch01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chayce McDermott<\/a> and <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/povicca01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cade Povich<\/a>. <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=gibson002tre&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trey Gibson<\/a> is expected to break camp after spring training, but <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=wells-000lev&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Levi Wells<\/a> might be the next man up.<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old is the same as the aforementioned Mejia, holding a strong fastball with some control issues. However, he received <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/2025\/05\/13\/orioles-minor-league-report-levi-wells-nathan-eovaldi\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lessons<\/a> from MLB pitcher <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/e\/eovalna01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nathan Eovaldi<\/a> in the 2025 offseason. His curveball did have lively movement, but he struggled to stay in the zone or generate whiffs. The good news is that only five balls put in play were considered hard-hit.<\/p>\n<p>He likely ends up at Triple-A after his lackluster spring, but there&#8217;s promise. Wells could end up making a spot start if a pitcher goes down.<\/p>\n<h2>3) Outfielder Nate George<\/h2>\n<p><em>2025 Stats (Rookie\/Single\/High-A): 323 ABs, .337\/.413\/.896, 14 doubles, 9 triples, 5 HRs, 42 RBI, 38 BB to 62 K, 50 SB<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=george004nat&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nate George<\/a> is arguably the most exciting offensive player on their list besides <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=bradfi000enr&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Enrique Bradfield<\/a>\u00a0and <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=aloy--000weh&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wehiwa Aloy<\/a>. The 16th-rounder made his impact known in 2025, leapfrogging to the 93rd overall prospect slot and establishing himself as part of Baltimore&#8217;s strong crop of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/11\/11\/orioles-should-target-both-kyle-tucker-cody-bellinger-free-agency\/\" target=\"_self\">outfield prospects<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a slightly below-average power grade, his speed netted him 50 stolen bases last year, but he was caught stealing 25 times. That also gave him nine triples, including seven at Single-A Delmarva. The range also puts him in conversation for the centerfield spot, one he could share with Bradfield Jr. in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Combined with his plate discipline, he is poised to fit in with fellow prospect <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beavedy01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dylan Beavers<\/a> at Camden Yards one day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;T<span>he right-handed hitter has plenty of bat speed and strength and found the barrel consistently in 2025,&#8221; George&#8217;s <a  href=\"https:\/\/baseballsavant.mlb.com\/savant-player\/nate-george-825582?stats=career-r-hitting-milb\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scouting repor<\/a>t reads. &#8220;He hits the ball hard to all fields, with extra-base pop the other way, and there\u2019s raw power he should be able to tap into as he advances.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nate George got an invite to <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Orioles?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Orioles<\/a> big league camp &#8212; for one day &#8212; and made a big impression.<\/p>\n<p>MLB&#8217;s No. 93 prospect showed off his 70-grade speed and learned plenty from observing his teammates: <a  href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aysU9m2JIZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/t.co\/aysU9m2JIZ<\/a> <a  href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QXYMqXY76O\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/QXYMqXY76O<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MLB Pipeline (@MLBPipeline) <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MLBPipeline\/status\/2025341310924632475?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">February 21, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The Orioles are already preparing him for the big leagues, even giving him an <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/nate-george-orioles-prospect-mlb-spring-training-debut\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">invite<\/a> to spring training. While George did tell reporters he was &#8220;observing&#8221; for the most part, he called the experience a &#8220;blessing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>4) Shortstop Wilfri De La Cruz<\/h2>\n<p><em>2025 Stats (Rookie): 120 ABs, .258\/.400\/.865, 11 doubles, 3 triples, 18 RBI, 48 BB to 36 K, 15 SBs<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wehiwa Aloy could be the final entry for the Orioles list, but it&#8217;s hard to see him there with <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hollija01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jackson Holliday<\/a> and <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hendegu01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gunnar Henderson<\/a> occupying the middle infield. The Orioles could ship Aloy off, paving the way for <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=delacr006wil&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wilfri De La Cruz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>De La Cruz signed with the Chicago Cubs in 2025, before being traded for reliever <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kittran01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-12_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Kittredge<\/a>. The good news is that the trade is paying off, both in terms of getting Kittredge back and seeing the 18-year-old excel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span>He\u2019s a switch-hitter with a disciplined approach and the offensive upside to profile as a regular at several positions, with scouts divided over whether his hit tool or power will outshine more in the long run,&#8221; MLB&#8217;s <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/milb\/prospects\/orioles\/wilfri-de-la-cruz-829043\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scouting report<\/a> reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s still early in his career, but there&#8217;s a major plus side here if he develops. He will still be in rookie ball, given his age. However, his plate discipline puts him in a strong category.
