The World Baseball Classic<\/a>, which begins on March 5, will feature 16 New York Mets players across the tournament’s 20 teams. It ties the 2009 and 2023 Mets teams, which also rostered 16 players in the WBC.<\/p>\n

With all 16 preparing to depart for the tournament, the organization\u2019s message has been clear: compete, but be cautious. After watching closer <\/span>Edwin D\u00edaz <\/span><\/a>suffer a season-ending torn patellar tendon in his right knee during the 2023 tournament, the club understands firsthand how quickly things can change on the international stage. While the Mets fully support their players<\/a> representing their countries, there\u2019s an added emphasis this time around on staying healthy and avoiding unnecessary risks.<\/span><\/p>\n
