Just days after signing<\/a> star infielder Bo Bichette<\/a> to a three-year, $126 million deal and one day removed from a trade<\/a> for center fielder Luis Robert Jr.<\/a>, the New York Mets<\/a> swung a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for one of the game’s best starting pitchers, Freddy Peralta<\/a>, on Wednesday night. New York is acquiring right-handers Peralta and Tobias Myers<\/a> in exchange for No. 5 pitching prospect Brandon Sproat<\/a> and No. 3 prospect Jett Williams<\/a>. Jon Heyman of the New York Post was first to report an imminent trade, with ESPN’s Jeff Passan later confirming it. The team then announced the deal<\/a> on social media.<\/p>\n

Mets Swing Trade for Freddy Peralta<\/h2>\n

Peralta is slated to make $8 million this year, his last before reaching free agency. Peralta will slot in as the new Mets\u2019 ace.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mets\u2019 rotation currently projects to be led by Peralta, rookie Nolan McLean<\/a>, David Peterson<\/a>, Kodai Senga<\/a>, Sean Manaea<\/a>, and Clay Holmes<\/a>. Top prospect Jonah Tong<\/a> will serve as a key depth piece, as well as Christian Scott<\/a>, who is returning from Tommy John surgery and expects to be fully healthy by spring training.<\/p>\n
