After years of volatility, he provided the Yankees with a consistent middle-of-the-order presence that took the pressure off Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. His 98 RBIs were a testament to his improved two-strike approach. Unlike the “all-or-nothing” swing of his late Dodgers tenure, Bellinger utilized a shortened stroke to drive runners home, making him the team’s most dangerous hitter with runners in scoring position, highlighted with his effective two strike approach. Another thing that makes this marriage a match made in heaven is how well Yankee Stadium fits Bellinger and his swing. Many of his 29 home runs were line drives that would have been flyouts elsewhere, proving the fit was stylistically perfect.

Bellinger’s Defensive Masterclass

Perhaps more valuable than his bat was his defensive utility. Bellinger’s ability to switch between center field and left field — and even fill in at first base — gave the Yankees unprecedented tactical flexibility. He provided Gold Glove-caliber defense in center, allowing the team to rotate veteran players through the DH spot to keep them fresh.
