One of the possible names linked to the Dodgers is free-agent infielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bichebo01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-07_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bo Bichette<\/a>. The Toronto Blue Jays appear interested in spending their resources elsewhere, according to Mitch Bannon of the Athletic. This opens the door for the Dodgers. This year, however, his playing time was limited, due to a significant knee injury. \u00a0When he was healthy, he hit 18 home runs and carried a .311 batting average. Perhaps, more importantly, Bichette was on fire during the World Series. He had eight hits, including a three-run home run against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/o\/ohtansh01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-07_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shohei Ohtani<\/a> that looked for eight innings that it would be the decisive blow in a thrilling Game seven.<\/p>\n<h2>An Added Bonus<\/h2>\n<p>To sweeten the deal for the Dodgers, Bichette indicated that he would be willing to second base from shortstop. This could work out for the Dodgers since Gold-Glove finalist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bettsmo01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-07_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mookie Betts<\/a> resides in the six hole. Prior to Betts cementing his position at shortstop, Bichette&#8217;s name had come up as a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/12\/23\/dodgers-potentially-interested-trade-bo-bichette\/\" target=\"_self\">possible solution<\/a> for the Dodgers last winter.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Factors to Consider<\/h2>\n<p>As Los Angeles continues to weigh their options. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/e\/edmanto01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-07_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tommy Edman<\/a> has to be in the back of their mind. Edman had off-season <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/11\/11\/dodgers-infielder-outfielder-edman\/\" target=\"_self\">ankle surgery<\/a>. Depending on the rate of his recovery, Edman might spend the majority of his playing time in center field, if deemed healthy. If not, Edman will probably play second base. and Bichette will be looking for playing time.<\/p>\n<h2>Needs versus Wants<\/h2>\n<p>It seems more likely that the Dodgers will work <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/11\/13\/offseason-needs-that-the-dodgers-should-address\/\" target=\"_self\">out a solution<\/a> for a corner outfielder, before they spring for an infielder.
