The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays agreed to a trade that would send a package of prospects for starting pitcher Shane Baz.<\/p>\n

The trade, first reported by ESPN<\/a>, then confirmed<\/a> by Baltimore, includes first-round 2025 outfield draft selection Slater de Brun. The Orioles also traded away catching draft pick Caden Bodine<\/a>, right-handed pitcher Michael Forret<\/a>, and outfielder Austin Overn<\/a>. A 2026 Competitive Balance Round A Pick was also sent to Tampa Bay.<\/p>\n

The acquisition of Baz<\/a> marks the second major trade by Baltimore this offseason, following their one-for-one deal<\/a> for outfielder Tyler Ward<\/a>. It’s also the team’s second major move of the month after signing<\/a> first baseman Pete Alonso<\/a> on Dec. 10.<\/p>\n

Baltimore had been looking to boost their pitching rotation following a disastrous 2025 campaign. Acquiring the 26-year-old marks the first major outside upgrade to their main staff.<\/p>\n
