Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Jeff Passan of ESPN, and others have confirmed the report from Romero. The Texas Rangers <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/11\/21\/non-tendered-players-who-could-fit-on-phillies\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">non-tendered<\/a> Garc\u00eda earlier this offseason. The Phillies are taking a chance on Garc\u00eda and hoping he rebounds. Last offseason, the Phillies made a similar move, signing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/keplema01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-12-15_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Max Kepler<\/a> to a nearly identical deal. He also recorded an 83 wRC+ and a .267 BABIP, along with a 0.21 BB\/K rate. Defensively, Garc\u00eda had a 16 DRS\/1 OAA\/2 FRV season in right field. He is a right-handed outfield bat, which has been a huge need for the Phillies. If Garc\u00eda can return to his 2023 form at the plate, this could end up being a good signing for the Phillies.
