Even though the Los Angeles Dodgers won their second title in as many years, they still have needs to address in the offseason, primarily in the outfield and the bullpen. There is more than one way to strengthen the team of course. However, Jesse Rogers of ESPN reports in an article that a rival executive has anonymously floated the idea that the Dodgers are open to trading starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow to address other needs. Here is why Los Angeles should hang on to the right-hander.

Should Dodgers Trade Frontline Starter to Fill Holes?

Per @JesseRogersESPN, Tyler Glasnow is seen as a possible trade candidate to help the Dodgers fill holes. pic.twitter.com/23x0GbTXvH

— Dodgers Tailgate (@DodgersTailgate) November 27, 2025

A Six Man Rotation

Coming into Spring Training last year, the Dodgers were considering a six-man rotation. Half of their starting pitchers, including Roki Sasaki, who will rejoin the ranks, are used to an extra day of rest. Glasnow is most likely one of those options. If the Dodgers were to trade Glasnow, even for a premier outfielder, they would be creating another hole they would have to fill before the season starts. If you want to give Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Roki Sasaki the routine and rest they are used to be effective, Glasnow stays in Los Angeles.

Unpredictability of Injuries

For two years in a row, Dodgers starters have missed significant portions of the season due to injuries. In 2024, for example, the entire starting rotation was on the Injured List. This included Glasnow himself, who was dealing with a finicky elbow. Los Angeles needs Glasnow to cover the innings he can to protect and prevent from the inevitably of injuries that are bound to come next season. The importance of depth cannot be underestimated. The wear and tear on arms is a reality in today’s game. Glasnow can testify to that fact himself. He has missed a season of games with the Dodgers in the past 2 years. However, thanks to their pitching depth, Los Angeles has been able to maintain their winning ways without him for a limited time. If Glasnow is traded, depth would no longer be a luxury.

Ready for October

The Dodgers are used to playing in October. They would rather bide their time in the regular season. Los Angeles would prefer to save its best arms for October. Believe it or not, with an All-Star-studded team, Glasnow may have the best stuff in the starting rotation. When healthy, Glasnow has a filthy swing and miss repertoire. To prove the point, Glasnow took on a hybrid role during the 2025 postseason. Whether as a starter or as a reliever, the right-hander compiled a 1.69 Earned Run Average. He was able to execute in high-leverage situations when it mattered the most. Consequently, the Dodgers won every game he entered during the postseason. Glasnow was made for October.

Tis the Season?

There is no doubt that things will pick up at the Winter Meetings and the Dodgers will make a trade or two, but expectations are that Tyler Glasnow stays in Los Angeles.

Main Photo Credits: Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images

It has been relatively quiet the last few weeks in the baseball world, but the rumors haven’t stopped.
