The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/11\/03\/mlb-offseason-contract-options-qualifying-offers-monday-recap\/\" target=\"_self\">New York Yankees<\/a> are looking to improve their roster after a rough postseason exit. The club has been linked to the slugging free agent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/schwaky01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-11-10_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Schwarber<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Yankees&#8217; offense was outgunned in the American League Division Series. The lineup on paper was full of threats, but no bite. Although the lineup was dangerous all season long, this thought is what sticks to memory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schwarber would be a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/10\/17\/high-profile-scott-boras-opt-outs-loom-mlb-free-agency\/\" target=\"_self\">very qualified answer<\/a> to any lineup with his bat in it. That being said, would he fit into the Yankees lineup? Defensively, the free agent does the minimum, only playing left field and primarily slotting into the designated hitter spot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0A Schwarber signing would strictly be for his offensive capabilities. The big left-handed hitter is a clear number three or four hitter who adds muscle to parade between guys like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/j\/judgeaa01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-11-10_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaron Judge<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stantmi03.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-11-10_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Giancarlo Stanton<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/chishja01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-11-10_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jazz Chisholm Jr.<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lefty had quite the year at the plate, leading to an All-Star appearance. He slashed .240\/.365\/.563. Schwarber also led the league in games played this year, playing in all 162 games. Schwarber also led the majors in RBI with 132. He did strike out 197 times, but also walked 108 times.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The slugger was a huge part of the Philadelphia Phillies&#8217; run production, overall offense, and another division title. He\u2019s a factor in team success and puts any lineup at an advantage.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Schwarber Acquisition May Cause Some Musical Chairs\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Schwarber may be linked to the Yankees, the actual logistics of employing him in New York may be a bit complicated. Schwarber can assist in the outfield and be designated in the batting order.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Yankees have some pieces in both of those places currently that would need to be shuffled. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/ricebe01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-11-10_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Rice<\/a> currently plays behind the dish, at first base, and at the designated hitter spot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With Schwarber potentially in the Yankees plans, having him as a DH would push Rice to more first base duties, with fewer opportunities at catcher and DH.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But also, Giancarlo Stanton would be the other factor in this scenario. Stanton has played the majority of his time as a designated hitter in recent years, with the rest split between left and right field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What would this mean for Schwarber? He would need to play most of his time in the outfield to accommodate Stanton. The positive here is that Schwarber can handle the work load, playing in all games this past season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This could be an easy split and accommodation, which would compile one of the most dangerous lineups in the game. Schwarber\u2019s projection is on point to be another All-Star year.
