In the crucial three-game set, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/09\/16\/two-yankees-pitchers-postseason\/\" target=\"_self\">Yankees<\/a> had help from contributors to lead them to victory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Red Sox provided some anxiety for the Yankees in this year\u2019s renewed rivalry series. Both teams got some elite performances, making the best-of-three showdown competitive to the finish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What Yankees players did in these three games was crucial, especially heading up to Toronto. Some important mentions include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rosaram01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amed Rosario<\/a>, who sparked the offense in game three. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rosario started the offensive train with an RBI single, contributing to a four-run inning. This rally ended up being what they needed to get them over the hump. The right-handed rookie was slotted in prior to the series, getting the nod over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/w\/warrewi01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Will Warren<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=gillu01,gil---004lui&amp;search=Luis+Gil&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luis Gil<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yankees management surely made the right choice here. Let\u2019s start with the fact that the Red Sox were completely shut out in game three, where more offensive fight was expected. The right-hander went eight strong innings, allowing no runs on only five hits, striking out 12 Red Sox hitters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He threw 107 pitches with 75 strikes. Schlittler threw 21 called strikes, 18 swinging strikes, 19 foul balls, and 15 in-play strikes. He also induced four ground balls and eight fly balls.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schlittler carried the Yankees on Thursday night with a stellar performance in a must-win game.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Carlos Rod\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/09\/22\/yankees-pitchers-season-performance\/\" target=\"_self\">Rod\u00f3n<\/a> was another X-factor for the Yankees in this series. The left-handed pitcher was expected to succeed due to his strong regular-season performance. However, there was also the fear of struggle due to his track record of postseason inconsistency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Rod\u00f3n did not get credited with a win, he did give the Yankees a strong outing to avoid elimination in Game Two. Rodon pitched six innings allowing three runs on four hits, striking out six hitters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His work set up the bullpen to finish the game, grabbing a 4-3 win. This performance was huge for Rod\u00f3n going into the series against Toronto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ben Rice\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other series X-factor was first baseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/ricebe01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Rice<\/a>. Rice was not overly exaggerating, but his swing was effective, and his bat presence was good in this series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After sitting in Game One with lefty Garret Crochet on the mound for Boston, Rice came in clutch in the right moments when things mattered most.
