A PCL sprain rarely requires surgery unless the knee is very unstable functionally. The Blue Jays could brace him and let him play. But whether they will follow through with that is questionable.

The fact that Bichette is seeking a second opinion also indicates that the injury is more complex than anticipated. The shortstop who was chasing 200 hits this season is sitting at 181. He has bounced back from a subpar season last year that was impacted by injuries.

Bichette’s absence will certainly be a tough loss, but so far, the Blue Jays have been able to gather up wins without him. They swept the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend, but aside from this series, the Blue Jays have gained contributions from the bottom part of the lineup. This shows how the Blue Jays have grown over the last few seasons. While Bichette is a solid player to rely on offensively, they are in good hands with stars like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer, as well as guys like Myles Straw, Ernie Clement, and Tyler Heineman, who have exceeded expectations this season.

Main Photo Credit: Brett Davis-Imagn Images

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is seeking a second opinion on his knee injury that occurred on September 6th.
