They have slowly been slipping in the standings and have been searching for answers. They have finally made a massive move by calling up their No. 1 prospect, and MLB’s No. 45 overall prospect. Reported by Kiley McDaniel of ESPN, outfielder Owen Caissie will make his major league debut tomorrow in Toronto against the Blue Jays. Caissie is a Canadian native and will look to make a huge impact on the Cubs.

Iowa Cubs’ Owen Caissie (17) makes his way to the dugout on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Principal Park in Des Moines. Owen Caissie has been going berserk at Triple-A Iowa this year and is especially hot recently. In his last 30 games, he has a slash line of .339/.432/.705 with 11 home runs and eight doubles. Overall, this season at Triple-A, he has an OPS of .955 to go along with 22 home runs. He has been a monster, and this is exactly what the Cubs need right now. They have been struggling immensely since the All-Star break on the offensive side. Since then, they have an OPS of only .693 as a team. Their best hitters have been downright terrible since then. The Cubs’ top-4 hitters have only hit a total of nine home runs through 23 games since the All-Star break.

Needless to say, Owen Caissie could very well be the spark the Cubs need to get their offense back on track. While he most likely won’t be an instant star, it will be very interesting to see what he can bring to the table. This is a great move by the Cubs, as their offense can’t get much worse right now.

Main Photo Credit: © Cody Scanlan/The Register / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

There is no question that the Chicago Cubs are in their worst offensive slump of the season.
