This is close to their season ERA, which sits at 4.47. The Cubs front office has made it known that they will address this problem at the trade deadline. This year for the Red Sox, he has started 13 games and has compiled a 6-1 record with a 3.36 ERA. These numbers would be ideal for any team, much less a team in the Cubs, whose main weakness is starting pitching. Additionally, Giolito shouldn’t be too expensive if the Cubs pursue him, considering his short-term deal with the Red Sox.

Giolito has had some injury troubles in the past, including UCL problems that led to him missing the entire 2024 season.
