The Yankees have another shot at those <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/06\/21\/three-pitchers-yankees-could-select-2025-mlb-draft\/\" target=\"_self\">selections this year.<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Top Middle Infielders For the Yankees to Consider in the 2025 MLB Draft<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anthony Volpe, Oswald Peraza, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Ben Rice are products of a well-developed Yankees farm system. This generation of infielders was the past version of an elite <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/06\/19\/catching-prospects-the-yankees-can-prioritize-early-in-the-2025-mlb-draft\/\" target=\"_self\">Yankees pipeline.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this group of middle <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/06\/03\/yankees-jazz-chisholm-jr-returns-from-injury\/\" target=\"_self\">infielders<\/a> doing the major league work, and the next bunch developing, the Bronx Bombers need to replenish their stock. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/06\/27\/two-corner-infield-draft-prospects\/\" target=\"_self\">middle infield<\/a> may be an area of consideration early in this draft, and there are two of many prospects they could consider.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>MLB Draft Prospect: 2B Gavin Kilen<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the Yankees are looking to score big in this year\u2019s draft, a second baseman by the name of Gavin Kilen could be the answer. The Yankees select 39th overall in their first selection, which could make this pick a bit tricky.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kilen is ranked 17th by MLB on the top 200 prospects list. There are 17 of the 30 teams that understand the value Kilen brings to any organization. This infield prospect is well-established in the prospect pool and has been closely monitored.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kilen was previously drafted in 2022 in round 13 by the Boston Red Sox. The second baseman understood his route to development and knew what would be best for a better draft position. The prospect decided to take his scholarship to Louisville.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He spent two seasons in Louisville before transferring to Tennessee to play in the Southeastern Conference. In three college seasons, Kilen played both second base and shortstop. He totaled 186 hits, 53 extra base hits, 24 home runs, and 105 RBIs. The infielder has a strong bat from the left side with good bat speed and bat-to-ball contact.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kilen has a promising bat, as he\u2019s able to put the ball in play and force dynamic situations. His overall hitting profile needs to be assessed and developed. Kilen has a lot of potential as a hitter but is more defensively desired than offensively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He shows good hands and a strong ability to pick up the defensive end, with a strong throw and good range. Kilen is swift on his feet, covers good ground, and is a playmaker. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His profile will definitely fit a first-round pick in the top 10 selections; however, if the bat is in doubt, the Yankees could see him later.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Prospect: SS Aiva Arquette<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/milb\/prospects\/draft\/aiva-arquette-804109\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aiva Arquette<\/a> is another prospect whose name was mentioned in the draft after he graduated from high school in 2022. He was selected in the 18th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arquette instead honored his commitment to Washington, where he was one of the best hitters in the Pac-12 conference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arquette then transferred to Oregon State, where he recorded college career-high numbers. In 2025, Arquette finished in Oregon with 90 hits, 19 home runs, 66 RBIs, and a .354 batting average.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His total college slash was .333\/.425\/.614, finishing with 36 home runs, and 113 RBIs. The shortstop was described as one of the best college hitters in this draft pool and one of the most projectable players.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arquette is 6\u20195\u201d, 220 lbs with a contact-type of bat, flexing parallel raw power. His streaky contact enables him to hit extra-base hits, along with the long ball. Arquette will bring offensive value to the table in this draft, as his profile dictates 20-plus home runs per season with 100-plus RBIs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arquette can move well and cover ground in the hole. He has soft hands, good footwork, and fluid transfers as a shortstop.
