Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

On his way back to the big leagues, the right-hander has made four rehab outings. The first three appearances were crisp. Sheehan gave up only one earned run over eight innings pitched, including 14 strikeouts. His latest outing was a bit of a hiccup. The right-hander went three and a third innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City, giving up four earned runs with seven strikeouts. However, he didn’t walk anyone, and two runs came on one swing—a home run in the thin Albuquerque air.

Help Wanted

Right now, the Dodgers will take all the help they can get. They have 14 arms on the injured list as it is, and a weary bullpen that’s carried more than their share of weight so far this season. Even staff ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up five earned runs in his latest start against natural rivals the San Francisco Giants. Yamamoto has been pitching on four days’ rest instead of his customary five. As a result, his ERA is more than a run higher. To add insult to injury, the Dodgers offense struggles to score runs in his starts.

More Good News on the Horizon?

Starter Tyler Glasnow is set to face hitters for the first time since a shoulder injury sidelined him in May. In addition, reliever Blake Treinen has had no setbacks thus far in his rehab. He has been dealing with a forearm issue. His absence has been keenly felt since the loss of Evan Phillips.

The Dodgers may finally have hope to be at full strength soon.
