Their minor league teams are putting up great individual stats from various <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/05\/19\/yankees-jose-rojas-three-grand-slams-triple-a\/\" target=\"_self\">prospects<\/a> and minor league veterans. Two names on the radar of late are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=schlit001cam&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-25_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cam Schlittler<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=rodrig025jes,rodrig026jes&amp;search=Jesus+Rodriguez&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-25_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jes\u00fas Rodr\u00edguez<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Yankees&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/05\/08\/yankees-prospect-george-lombard-jr-progressing-well-farm-system\/\" target=\"_self\">farm system<\/a> may not currently rank where they want it to be, but it is enriched with so many key pieces for the future. Schlittler and Rodriguez are two of several names worth keeping tabs on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schlittler is a 24-year-old right-handed pitching prospect currently playing for the Yankees&#8217; Double-A affiliate, the Somerset Patriots. He was drafted by the Yankees in the 2022 amateur draft, selected in the seventh round.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rodr\u00edguez is a primary catcher, and he lurks between the ranks of Double-A and Triple-A. The prospect catcher is from La Victoria, Venezuela, and moved to the United States to start his career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rodr\u00edguez was signed as an international free agent on July 2nd, 2018. While he was initially overlooked, he is now getting recognition as a potentially valuable prospect.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Yankees Prospect Cam Schlittler Progressing Exceptionally in the Minors\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The club is always focused on the next <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2025\/05\/21\/yankees-warren-becoming-true-starter\/\" target=\"_self\">up-and-coming arm<\/a> in the farm system, due to the inevitable unforeseen circumstances in the big leagues. Schlitter is an important prospect to follow, as his estimated time of arrival is around the corner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schlitter is expected to be ready for 2026, but the prospect could see an early MLB call-up this season. The right-hander currently plays in Double-A, and he is putting up elite numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hgf8M3CPoIo?si=IY6eIQuSAAGXNWRT\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schlittler has a 3-4 win-loss record for the Patriots, a .429 win-loss percentage, but a 2.47 ERA in 43 2\/3 innings. The right-handed pitching prospect has a 3.50 RA\/9 and he\u2019s only allowed 12 earned runs (17 total runs) on 37 hits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He\u2019s proven his dominance on the mound, shutting the door on hitters with 52 strikeouts and only 15 walks. His ability to work with confidence and strategy in pitch usage allows for his success on the mound.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schlittler has advanced decently quickly within the Yankees organization. In 2024 he he saw High-A all the way up to Triple-A. Between the three leagues, he totaled a 3.36 ERA with an 8-8 record, 154 strikeouts, 55 walks, and 45 earned runs in 120 and 2\/3 innings of work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The prospect pitcher projects well and is expected to end 2025 with the same intensity and results.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Jes\u00fas Rodr\u00edguez May Offer More than Expected for the Yankees\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catchers are a commodity to find or develop.\u00a0 The Yankees employed catcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/ramirag01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-25_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Agust\u00edn Ram\u00edrez<\/a>, who was a ranked prospect and expected to be a huge tool for the club.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But GM Brian Cashman used Ram\u00edrez as collateral at the trade deadline last season. He was one of three players sent to the Miami Marlins in exchange for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/chishja01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-25_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jazz Chisholm Jr.<\/a> Although the addition of Chisholm is great, one may think Ram\u00edrez was too much to give up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Yankees don\u2019t have a true primary catcher among their top prospects. However, that list has three utility catchers, including Rodr\u00edguez.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rodr\u00edguez is ranked 30th of the top 30 prospects, but in the long term, he\u2019s projected to be first or second string in the big leagues. The prospect catcher can also offer experience at third base and first base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, his craft behind the dish as a defender is truly impressive, and in the box as a hitter. Rodr\u00edguez this season has been between Double-A and Triple-A, gaining experience and exhibiting his attributes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Between the two levels, he\u2019s recorded 141 at-bats with 47 hits, 16 RBI, and 27 runs scored. The catcher also has some athleticism, with quick feet and ability to run. He\u2019s stolen nine bases so far this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rodr\u00edguez has a .333 batting average, a .418 on-base percentage and slugging percentage. He\u2019s expected to be an all-arounder and is showing his tools and versatility.
