He would go on to spend five years with the Rockies, hitting .293 with 128 home runs and 483 RBI. During this time, Holliday also was a three-time All-Star in 2006, 2007, and 2008. He was also named the 2007 NLCS MVP and also won the NL batting title that year. Also during this time, Holliday won three Silver Sluggers in 2006, 2007, and 2008. During the 2008 off-season, Holliday was traded to the Oakland Athletics. In the trade, the Rockies acquired pitchers Huston Street and Greg Smith, and right fielder Carlos Gonzalez.

After just one year in Oakland, Holliday was traded again. This trade sent him to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for first baseman Brett Wallace, pitcher Clayton Mortensen, and left fielder Shane Peterson. Holliday would play eight years in St. Louis, hitting .293 with 156 home runs and 616 RBI. During this time, Holliday got four more All-Star selections in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2015. Holliday also won another Silver Slugger in 2010, and a World Series championship in 2011. After his time in St. Louis, on December 7th, 2016, Holliday signed a one-year contract with the New York Yankees. Holliday’s illustrious career statistics include a .299 batting average with 314 home runs and 1,217 RBI. He got his 1,000th RBI when Holliday and the Cardinals played the Washington Nationals.

Impact Of The Signing

For the Rockies, they gain someone who is able to lead the clubhouse and has championship experience.
