His pedigree was proven with the Houston Astros and continues on the North Side of Chicago. He is also a defensive upgrade from Teoscar Hernández and Michael Conforto, who have negative defensive ratings. There is no doubt that the Dodgers have $500 million to spend, but would they spend that amount of money on anyone not named Shohei Ohtani or Mookie Betts? Or are they just trying to drive up the price for other teams?

Flourishing at Wrigley Field

Thus far this season, Tucker is making his case for a big payday. The 28-year-old has a .269 batting average with 10 home runs, 32 RBI, and 10 stolen bases as a bonus. For what it’s worth he doesn’t seem to be intimidated by pennant-chasing baseball either. It’s safe to say that the Cubs got more than they bargained for when they traded for him. Tucker has helped vault them into first place in the National League Central. However, it is doubtful that he will be a Cub beyond 2025, given the Ricketts’ comments about how hard it is to “compete with the Dodgers.”

The Boys In Blue

The Dodgers are looking to be the newest baseball dynasty. They will have at least $45 million to spend given that Max Muncy‘s and Chris Taylor‘s contracts are ending. It is very feasible that we could see another All-Star in the Dodgers lineup come Opening Day in 2026. Until then, expect the rumors to fly fast and furious.

We are only six weeks into the 2025 baseball season, and rumors are already swirling about 2026.
