Bryan Shaw Signs With Colorado Rockies

According to reports, free agent Bryan Shaw will sign a three-year deal with the Colorado Rockies worth approximately $27 million. The deal is pending a physical.

Shaw, 30, made 79 appearances this season. He had a record of 4-6, with a 3.52 ERA, in 76.2 innings pitched. In 2017, Shaw struck out 73 batters, had 22 walks, and recorded three saves.

Shaw had a WAR of 0.6 this season and has a 6.4 WAR throughout his career so far.

Shaw made 79 appearances this season, the second most in his career. In 2014, Shaw made 80 appearances.

The righty reliever played college baseball for the Long Beach State 49ers and was taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft. Since then, Shaw has spent seven seasons in the majors. He has spent two years with the Diamondbacks and five years with the Cleveland Indians.

In Shaw’s seven years of work, he has made a total of 475 appearances, has a record of 23-28, a 3.13 ERA, 446.1 innings pitched, 151 walks, 398 strikeouts, and 11 saves.

Shaw averages 68 appearances a season, a record of 3-4, a 3.13 ERA, around 64 innings pitched, 22 walks, 57 strikeouts, and about 8 strikeouts every 9 innings pitched.

He has pitched in one American League Wild Card Game, one NLDS, two ALDS, one ALCS, and one World Series. Shaw has pitched in the postseason four times in his career. In the postseason, Shaw has a record of 2-1, an ERA of 2.45, with 19 appearances, in 22.0 innings, with six walks, and 22 strikeouts. Shaw did give up the winning run in the 2016 World Series against the Chicago Cubs in extra innings.

During the 2017 postseason, Shaw made three appearances, pitched in 6.0 innings, had five strikeouts, and had an ERA of 1.50.

Shaw has lead the American League in appearances for three years. He made the most appearances in the AL during the 2014, 2016, and 2017 seasons.
