When the rumours compounded over the past 24 hours of Napoli’s Edinson Cavani being transfered to Chelsea I was a little hesitant to buy into it. After all, we all know the cardinal rule of not trusting rumours. Perhaps more so than any other sport, football is notorious for rumours during the off-season. I suppose it’s only natural considering it’s the biggest game in the world, so it stands to reason it should have the most gossip. Anyway…
Reports are conflicting as to the agreed upon transfer fee. Napoli’s official radio station, Radio Marte, has suggested that it is worth €58m, with Cavani set to make €8.5m per season plus image rights.
Of course Chelsea were not in for the Uruguayan’s signature alone – Man City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were also looking to add him (reportedly). Expect rumours surrounding other key players to really heat up now including Gareth Bale (to Real Madrid?), Rooney, Higuain (to Arsenal?) and others.
