St Louis Blues vs Winnipeg Jets

Head-to-Head: Blues 0-2 Jets

There’s only one game, so our featured game is a pretty easy choice. It’s a Central Division battle between the Blues and the Jets. Winnipeg has won the first two games of the season. The Jets collected 4-0 and 5-2 victories over the Blues in the first two meetings of the season. Both teams meet each other one more time on March 19.

St. Louis will likely go with Jordan Binnington in goal. He’ll try to shake off a shaky performance on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche. The Blues have lost four straight games as they try to figure out if they’ll buy or sell at the trade deadline. St. Louis is 20th in goals for and 26th in goals against. They also struggle on special teams at 16th in power plays and 23rd on the penalty kill. Jordan Kyrou is tops in goals with 23 while Robert Thomas leads in assists with 31.

Connor Hellebuyck will likely draw the start in net for the Jets. Winnipeg has lost three straight games and offence has been a problem in those setbacks. The Jets have only mustered three goals in those three matchups. Despite this, Winnipeg is 11th in goals for and eighth in goals allowed. The Jets have the third-best penalty kill in the league at 83.8 percent. Mark Scheifele is one goal away from reaching the 30-goal mark while Josh Morrissey has 43 assists.

Prediction

The Jets are looking to stay in touch with the Dallas Stars for the Central Division lead. Winnipeg wants to shake its losing streak, but St. Louis is a tough team to figure out. The Blues can put together some good games, but they are very inconsistent. Winnipeg should rebound and find some offence in this one.

Prediction: Jets win 4-2.
