Aston Villa Youngster Signs New Long-Term Deal With the Club

Aston Villa youngster

Aston Villa are seemingly heading in the right direction under Steven Gerrard. It wasn’t the smoothest start to life there but the Liverpool legend is having a strong transfer window. An Aston Villa youngster signing a new contract at the club can only be positive too. The club has announced that Cameron Archer has penned a new bumper deal.

Archer Signs on the Dotted Line

It is difficult to discuss one Aston Villa youngster without covering another. Carney Chukwuemeka made 13 appearances in his debut season for the club at just 18 years old. It came as something of a shock when Chelsea came calling and snapped up the teenager. A fee of around £20 million has been paid for his services, which is a very nice price indeed for Villa.

Fears could have risen that other youth stars may well head towards the exit door instead. Jacob Ramsey was exceptional last term and is now a mainstay under Gerrard, having signed a new deal of his own. Another Aston Villa youngster in the picture is Cameron Archer who has been loaned out in the past. He has just three appearances for the Villains to his name due to spending last season under Ryan Lowe with Preston North End. The Deepdale faithful were a big fan of his, contributing seven goals and an assist in just over 1,600 minutes.

Just yesterday, former Plymouth Argyle manager Lowe said the following on Archer:  “He has been outstanding and whatever happens with him – whether they give him a new deal or whatever – he has earned the right to go and play for Aston Villa now.” Now he has successfully negotiated a five-year contract with the Villains.

There Is a Route for the Aston Villa Youngster Into the First Team

As previously mentioned, the emergence of Jacob Ramsey under Gerrard is evidence of a route into the first team for youth products. Chukwuemeka got a chance, took it and has now been brought in by Tuchel’s Chelsea. Keinan Davis has got minutes when he hasn’t been loaned out and the same could well come for Archer.

Davis thrived on loan at Nottingham Forest last term and is available for loan again. Meanwhile, Archer’s strong performances on loan have earned him this new deal. It also seems that he could well have earned Premier League minutes too.

The Aston Villa youngster garnered a lot of praise and respect after his strong performances with Preston. Gerrard has another huge talent on his hands.
