Iowa Barnstormers Defeat Wichita Falls Nighthawks 50-47

With 2:57 to play, the Iowa Barnstormers controlled the ball at the 25-yard line with their game against the Wichita Falls Nighthawks tied at 47.

At the end of the day, after Kenton Chun‘s 18-yard field goal, the Barnstormers came out on top, winning 50-47 in Texas.

The win advances the Barnstormers to a 10-2 record and a one-game lead over Wichita Falls going into the final four games of the season.

In the IFL, the top two teams in each respective conference make the playoffs, so Iowa essentially has a one-game cushion for the playoffs.

The Iowa Barnstormers started off the game fast. After a Travis Partridge rushing touchdown, the Barnstormer defense forced a fumble to take over in Wichita Falls territory.

Lucas Hefty made a catch shortly after to put Iowa up 14-0.

Although, the Nighthawks came storming back. After a Jordan Jolly touchdown, the Nighthawks defense forced a turnover on downs, and the team earned another score.

After the teams traded scores back-and-forth, Wichita Falls led 28-27 with 18 seconds remaining in the first half.

Partridge threw his lone interception on the night and Wichita Falls took advantage and kicked a field goal.

The Nighthawks led at halftime 31-27.

The two teams traded scores again in the second half, where the Barnstormers eventually took a 47-44 lead after a Brady Roland touchdown and two-point conversion.

The Barnstormers took over possession after a Nighthawks fumble with 11:35 to play, but were unable to do anything with it and turned the ball over on downs.

Wichita Falls took over with 6:33 to play in the game. They later tied the game with a field goal with 2:58 to play.

Travis Partridge lead the charge down the field for Iowa, and Chun sealed the win with four seconds to go.

Iowa will return to the field at the Wells Fargo Arena next Friday. They take on the Green Bay Blizzard (2-11) at 7:05 p.m. CT.
