Indoor Football League Week Nine Takeaways

Iowa Barnstormers mean business

The matchup of the Iowa Barnstormers and Nebraska Danger on Saturday was supposed to be the game of the week in the Indoor Football League.

Both teams had a common opponent in the Arizona Rattlers with each of the team’s result being a one-possession game.

Instead, it was a bloodbath.

The Barnstormers ran away with a 48-14 win, behind a defense that forced five interceptions.

Three of the interceptions came from DaeJohn Love, who now leads the league in picks on the season.

Also, It appears that adding all-IFL defensive back Dee Maggit Jr. has already been a vast improvement to Iowa. Maggit, on three kick returns on the night, averaged 19.7 yards per return and never failed to reach midfield.

With this defense and a 5-2 record, the Barnstormers are making sure that nobody counts them out in terms of making the playoffs just yet.

Keeping it Close

Seven of the past 14 games played in the IFL have ended in one possession thrillers, which can only be a good sign for the fans.

One of the worst things that can happen to a league is having too many blowouts. If too many teams are mismatched, there will be less watchable games each and every week.

For the IFL recently, this hasn’t been an issue.
