National Arena League Week 2 Takeaways

The Corpus Christi Rage may be done after this season and no one can figure the Georgia Firebirds in our National Arena League Week 2 Takeaways!

There were a lot of things to take away from Week 2 of the National Arena League. Here are our takeaways.

National Arena League Week 2 Takeaways

1. Columbus Lions Lay it on Corpus Christi Rage

The Lions went into Corpus Christi, TX on Sunday night and dominated the Rage in every way possible. They were dominant from the start, retiring two interceptions for touchdowns on two drives. Not only is there something to take away from the Lions on this. There may be something to take away from the Rage, as well.

2. One Season Non-Wonder

The Rage are playing their first season as a franchise. Not only is the team terrible, but also is their venue. They played in a stadium that had end zone used by the Corpus Christi Sharks. There was also an old Arena Football League logo in the middle of the field.

If that right there doesn’t show this is the first and final season of the Rage, the way they play will. In the past, failing indoor football teams folded. It’s looking like the Rage are looking at the same predicament.

3. Sneaky Steel

The Monterrey Steel have shown to be a very well-coached team. They’ve won their first two games by an average of 30 points per game. There’s just one catch – not many people have watched them play.

They have had trouble with their YouTube stream in both games thus far this season. Most of those who watch don’t watch it live.

Due to this, no one really knows what makes the Steel so successful. No matter, they’re showing to be one of the best teams in the league.

4. Figuring Out the Firebirds

The Georgia Firebirds have lost their first two games. Their losses have came to the High Country Grizzlies and Jacksonville Sharks, two of the league’s best teams.

No one has yet to see how they fare against teams such as the Rage or Dayton Wolfpack or even the Steel and Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. To show they are contenders, they would have to pull out a win against one of the better teams.

No one can make out if they are contenders or pretenders just yet. Their Week 3 matchup with the Lions may not prove anything, either.
