Week Five of the 2017 Indoor Football League Season brought some of the most surprising results to games that we have seen this season. These are some takeaways from the week that was.

Indoor Football League Week Five Takeaways

Cedar Rapids gaining momentum

While watching Cedar Rapids during the first two weeks of the season, it was not a shocking take to say that the team could finish dead last in the IFL.

After it’s battle with the Green Bay Blizzard, it’s getting easier to see Cedar Rapids getting out of that spot.
The Titans lead Green Bay by a touchdown with two minutes to play in the game, before the Blizzard tied it up.

With a minute to play, quarterback Brion Carnes took a snap at the 25-yard line with a tie game. He thought he had found an open receiver, but the ball was picked off and returned to the end zone by Manny Asprilla.

Green Bay missed the extra point giving Cedar Rapids another shot, but a Titans receiver just missed a pass that was batted into Tyrell Pearson’s hands.

Green Bay didn’t necessarily steal a victory from Cedar Rapids, but it very well could have their first win of the season. It was not a bad turn around after losing to the Blizzard 46-13 during week one of the season.

Sioux Falls gives Iowa a Reality Check

The Iowa Barnstormers went into Sioux Falls on Monday night with a 2-1 record, and two wins against what appeared to be a couple of top tiered IFL teams this season.

They exited with a 70-13 steamrolling by the Storm.

The Barnstormers shot themselves in the foot all night, throwing interceptions, fumbling the ball, and turning it over on downs.

By the time the teams came out for the second, the 28-point deficit was insurmountable.
