Six Balitmore Ravens Players Starting Season on PUP

Terrell Suggs

Last season, Terrell Suggs suffered a torn Achilles Tendon in week 1 vs the Denver Broncos. He missed the rest of the season due to his injury. He has been rehabbing his injury and getting better every day, but no surprise he is on this list to continue to get healthy and ready to go by week 1. There are no guarantees to when he should be ready.

Steve Smith Sr

Steve Smith Sr tore his right Achilles tendon in week 9 of 2015. He struggled with injuries last season with his back and knee prior to the Achilles tear. He had planned to retire at the end of last season, but there was no way he could go out on an injury. The expectation is that he will miss training camp and pre season, but most likely be ready for Week 1.

Trent Richardson

Richardson was picked up by the Ravens this offseason, and is hoping to get his career sparked as it has been disappointing up to this point. His leg is what is holding him back for now, but is expected to be ready during training camp. An injury isn’t helping his bid to make the team.

Breshad Perriman

Missing all of his rookie season with a PCL sprain in his right knee, Perriman is hoping to make a name for himself this season. During OTAs Perriman suffered a knee injury, and feared a torn ACL. Dr. James Andrews examined his knee and determined it was not an ACL tear, and said that Perrmian would be ready for action in 2016.

Elvis Dumervil and Jumal Rolle

During the offseason Dumervil had a procedure on his foot and is expected to make a return during training camp. For Jumal Rolle, a new Ravens signing, the season is over before it can even began, as he suffered a torn Achilles during offseason workouts, and is out for the year.

Notable names not included on this list

Joe Flacco, who sustained a knee in Injury that ended his 2015 season.

Jimmy Smith, who suffered a foot injury in 2014, struggled to be the same player in 2015 as he previously was. His foot wasn’t 100% and it impacted his performance.

Lastly, there is Dennis Pitta. He had suffered hip injuries in both 2014 and 2015, and has been working on coming back for quite a while now. There was question on whether he should return or retire, but he had his mind set on returning. Progress is going well enough that he was not placed on the PUP list.
